The Pirates are 1 game out of 1st place.
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

Imagine for a moment a Phillies/Pirates NLDS

Hope Phils play better at PNC Park than they usually do.

AL pitchers in interleague play hit better than NL pitchers this year; only by 10 or so points, but still. DHs in the AL hit over 50 points higher than DHs in the NL.

Maybe, but I think Pittsburgh is a baseball town just waiting for a team worth cheering for.

This is so sad/funny/insulting:

T.J. Quinn wrote:Roger Clemens' defense team will argue that his former trainer came up with a plan to blackmail him with manufactured evidence in 2001, long before either become embroiled in the sporting world's ongoing steroid scandal.

During a pre-trial hearing in U.S. District Court on Tuesday, defense attorney Rusty Hardin said Clemens' longtime personal trainer, Brian McNamee, was worried that a rape investigation involving him would lead the Yankees to fire him as their strength coach. Their argument is that McNamee took syringes and gauze pads with Clemens' DNA and tainted it with performance-enhancing drugs with the intention of blackmailing Clemens into giving him a job.

Was looking around for Phillies minor leaguers who had ST invites for a number 72 for the magic # countdown thread (Dom Brown wore 78 one spring apparently), and stumbled across this:

Screw that, does this mean you're going to steal my David Coggin?

I guess I should just look at the thread.

Take it to the hate the Braves thread. The Phillies really need to do something about this problem. I know they have the big three going and I hope that last night was a Jobu type wake up for the bats.

There are still two active players who played at least 1 game for the '92 Pirates.

Not a problem unless they win more than us from here on out. I don't see that happening.

Why is Jeter being a few hits from 3000 a bigger story than Thome 5 hrs from 600?

Isn't it believed that both of these guys were not big benefitters of using PEDs?

I'd say 600hrs is on par with 3000 hits. I'd say Thome is a good brand - not quite Jeter/Yanks/WS rings... but Thome has had a heckuvah career and with Sosa, McGwire, Barry, Rafael and some others all being negated - even A-Rod now -- Thome seems to be clean-cut.

I like Jim. I like his career. I enjoyed him a lot as a Phil and if we had the DH in Phila. I'd have been glad to keep him around for a while after Ryan took over 1st base.
