Adding up the records it appears the NL is only two games under .500 at the moment. Could beat the AL for the first time since 2003.

2009's #3 overall pick Donavan Tate was suspended 50 games for failing a 2nd drug test

puff

Tate received a franchise-record $6.25 million signing bonus in August 2009 after the Padres drafted him with the No. 3 overall pick two months earlier. Two days after he signed, Tate suffered a sports hernia and missed the rest of the season. Tate then broke his jaw in an ATV accident in the offseason.

He played in just 25 games in 2010
after sustaining a variety of injuries. He sprained his left shoulder in spring training and was hit in the head and suffered a concussion shortly after his return. He also suffered from a stomach virus last summer.

Tate began the 2011 season at Single-A Fort Wayne and was 6-for-19 before he collided with teammate Everett Williams in the outfield, sustaining a bone bruise in his knee. Tate then headed to Peoria, Ariz., to rehab his injury.

Hoyer said the second positive test occurred after Tate arrived in Arizona, and he began receiving treatment for substance abuse. He recently returned to Eugene and was 10-for-26 in his past five games before the suspension was announced.

The Padres suck at this drafting stuff

AL is four games up after today. Four game days to go.

To put this in a bit of perspective on how much the NL has caught up over the past few years: after finishing 22 games above .500 in 2003, the NL has finished Interleague play 2, 20, 56!, 22, 46, 24 and 16 games under .500. Seems like no matter what we're looking at our best showing since 2004 and a definite trend toward parity between the leagues.

The term "bust" applies, not in the usual sense of the word but as in always busted. Probably sustained a groin injury whilst peeing in the cup.

And that includes the Marlins relocating a home series to Seattle (not that the Marlins have much of a home field advantage).

If you were a wreck like Tate you might seek out the reefer too.

Still free on iTunes, for some reason it's not free if you go through the app store on the phone, so you have to download via computer.

yeah, it is free, I was able to get it through the app store on mine. It's pretty sweet, especially for free. Massive amounts of data sortable in a lot of cool ways, heat maps, team vs. pitcher stats, and much more. highly recommend this for free.

Manny Ramirez starts earning his $2MM deferred money from the Red Sox today and every year on this date through 2026, tweets Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.

I'm sure they are paying him but I'd hardly call it earning it.

How much is is making from the Red Sox and Dodgers per year not to play for them? Maybe the Rays too.
