Not sure what you mean here. You talking internal replacement? Because there will be nothing worthwhile on the trade market other than Reyes. Scutaro or JJ Hardy won't be upgrades. I would probably support acquiring Reyes if we could sign him, but I doubt the Mets would even consider that sort of a trade with their main rival

That's definitely true, there are really no viable replacements in or outside of the organization staring us in the face. I almost have an expectation for Rube to go out and make that mega trade that no one saw coming (except Rosenthal who i suspect is a cyborg).

I think this is moot though. I have faith in Jimmy. I think.

Maybe someone should remind Jimmy he's in the last year of his contract.

It'll be tough to see Jimmy go, but if he keeps this up, he'll have to go the way of the bat. I don't see him having quite the resurgence though. Wish we had him now.

You were Mr. comparative analysis for Raul. Well believe it or not, Jimmy is 11th in the MLB (6th NL) in WAR among SS during that period (09-11). With one bad season, one bad half season and a poor start to 11. Include 08 too and he's 4th in the MLB in WAR with only one good season of the 3+. There really aren't many good or even starting caliber SS in the MLB

I don't think Rube will or should consider him for an extension though unless he gets it together in the next few months

I think it would be foolish to conclude that JRoll is finished because of what he has done so far this year. His performance over these past few weeks is no different than stretches he has had over his entire career. What he usually does is follow up bad stretches with incredibly good stretches. His past year + of bad performance is magnified because he he never had a good stretch last year mainly because he was never healthy the entire year and because this is the last year of his contract. He might be on the verge of having an incredibly productive few weeks. If so, that would fit his pattern in the past.

He might be done but I'm not considering what he has done in 2011 as enough evidence in and of itself. Perhaps the injuries he has had over the past few years are preventing him from reaching the highs he has reached in the past. He is older, so that is also a variable to consider. But he has been so up and down over his career that a down stretch for a few weeks should not be considered unusual.

Has Rollins had any injuries that might sap his power a year removed from the injury?

But I agree, it's too early to say much. Same goes for Ibanez. The guy is a notoriously streaky hitter that looks finished when he's going bad and looks like a rock star when hitting well.

I just want them to show up by the time the competition gets better.
