* herndog's slider looks so much better

Based on limited viewing, Herndog looks like he might be serviceable oneday.

if its a boy, can I recommend the name Luis?

It's a girl. We're leaning towards Inara Violet. If we had to name it Luis, I would send it back.

You will all hate him with time. :)

I do feel sometimes like you must fit in with the group think on the board or you are treated like crap, unless you are one of the chosen ones who can do whatever they want. The group think on the board is often wrong. I should have chosen a different way of dealing with it, however, instead of the "poking my brother in the backseat with a stick until he screams" approach.

I wouldn't make such a much about it. It's possible your Jamie Lee Curtis avatar makes it more annoying though.

i swear, all this time I thought it was from stand by me or something.

It's from the baseball movie Sandlot. Shame on you for not knowing the adorable character Squint. In my pic, he just stole a kiss from the lifeguard... classic stuff, Wizlah

In Hittite–Hurrian mythology, Inara was the goddess of the wild animals of the steppe and daughter of the Storm-god Teshub/Tarhunt

What do you like about Martinez?

I'm legitimately clueless/curious, as I've isolated myself from the ST newswire

legitimate defender at 2B, SS, 3B, LF, CF, RF

has good raw speed, but needs to improve his technique. he could steal 20-30 bases playing full time, he won't get that chance here, but he'd make an excellent late game pinch runner for ibanez in the 8th inning if we need to squeeze out a run. and he can play every position on the diamond except C, so he offers you that safety net at the end of games.

14% K rate at AA/AAA last year is pretty solid, so he'll make a decent amount of contact, which is important for pinch hitters. And for someone his size, he actually hit 11 HR last year.

I think we've lacked someone like him in years past. He's not a burner like Bourn was, but he's much more versatile defensively. I think he'll be more useful off the bench than, say, Dobbs or Bruntlett or Taguchi in years past.

Please, physically he looks like a cross between Bonifacio/Jose Reyes, which is entertaining.

Well that's encouraging; like Eem I'm more or less out of the loop but I like his versatility and cost controllability so I'm on board.
