well at least they'll be bruning off the episodes...i expect after that's done we'll get the blck donnelys disaster thursdays at 10

Why is ABC even bothering with traveler? Shame sounded like a good premise...though i think peopole should stop trying to make the 'next' lost and just focus on making quality television

I wondered what happened to "Traveler." I saw the pilot last summer. I think it was supposed to be on the fall schedule.

What's the plot about? I saw the commercial where it looks like a guy blows up a building and disappears.

It was supposed to be a midseason replacement, but they never found a spot for it. It's getting a try out, albeit with no promotion, in a few weeks in the post-Greys timeslot.

It's about 3 rich pampered ivy league kids about to move on being lawyers and what not, but they are going for one last fling in nyc. while rollerblading through a museum, one of the friends disappears and there is an explosion. the two other friends end up getting framed for it by the third friend, and they must now go on the run trying to clear their name and figure out just what the hell happened and who this guy is.

good premise and a good pilot. i liked it. its only a 6 episode try out, and if it does well, they can rush into production on a second season and possibly get it on by midseason. but thats all unlikely.

Anyone else watching the Wonder Years repeats on Ion? Good stuff since they can't release the show on DVD...

The music was cleared for TV, but not for DVD. Clearing the music for DVD would cost more than they could make. The production company wasn't thinking ahead.

I hope that is sarcasm at the end because otherwise, how could they see 15 years in the future?

At NBC’s “upfront” presentation to advertisers on May 14, Zucker says he expects NBC to unveil five new programs — three dramas, one comedy, and one reality show — for its fall schedule. Zucker and Reilly are considering stretching The Office to an hour and canceling the original Law & Order.

New dramas will probably go at 9 on tues and wed and at 10 on mon. Office to an hour would be idiotic beyond words. Just...no. It's a comedy. Overkill. Come on.

When you get the music rights a smart producer should get "rights for all media existing in the present or future in perpetuity." When the show was on from 1988 to 1993 people knew that new uses would be invented. In the previous 15 years cable and VHS had been invented, providing new revenue sources. You just don't know. As a result, contracts these days include something similar to above.

Either the producers didn't have the foresight or the price the catalog companies wanted to charge them was more than they could afford. If they didn't have the money for "all media," then they shouldn't buy it. Other shows from the 60's, 70's, and 80's must have the music cleared, because they go out on DVDs.

There is a lot of tension in the entertainment industry about writers, musicians, et al being paid for new media.

When I made my movie, the music rights were for all media. What I didn't negotiate was the rights to use the songs on an album. I didn't think there would be one, so those rights could be negotiated later.

Wasn't the BBC The Office 40 minutes?
Fine. You wanna act like you're two? I'll act like I'm one.

No 30, but BBC America needs commercials so the time is extended (bbc in england is paid by taxes, so there are no commercials).

It's just Office overkill to make it an hour.

Also, the fact that NBC is only picking up 5 new series bodes well for bubble shows: medium, the law and orders, friday night lights, crossing jordan, etc.

BBC is not paid by taxes, it's a separate entity with government oversight. People pay a license fee like they do in the US for cable, only they don't (didn't?) have free over-the-air broadcast networks. Wizlah can probably speak more specifically to it, but I understand they'd even bust and fine you for setting up a TV antenna without paying the license fee.

Just read today that BBC will start putting some it's properties online in an 'indemand' fashion for a week after airing...nothing from what i read indicated if it'll be limited to brits (via IP) only.

Dr Who is one of the shows that would be available

This has been in the works for a long time now - in the past there was speculation that Doctor Who wouldn't be one of the shows offered. There was also talk that it would require some kind of proprietary viewer software.
