Werth close to being represented by Scott Boras.

Bye bye ideas of backloaded contract.

Bye bye Werth.

they are a Padres-esque fluke. If they win the WC I expect them to get swept in the DS a la 2008 Chicago Cubs

Yeah, if anyone is suited to sitting on the bench, it's Jon Jay.

And there is a 110% chance that if we do face Cy Dickey in the last game against the Mets it will carry over and completely kill the offense for the final 6 games.

I'm pretty sure there was/is a significant gap in perceived value between Werth and the FO already, regardless of his agent.

Rube is absolutely not going to let Werth hit free agency and then adjust his best offer upwards to account for market values, IMO. Ie, he has/will make his best offer before Werth's agent can start getting some informal/tampery feelers from teams in Feb 2011. Maybe that hasn't happened yet, but at this point (and admittedly, I base this on no inside info), I don't see why Werth would be likely to entertain a team-friendly deal when he's so very close to the open market

HOF Brown and Mathieson are the Paul Owens Award winners this year

Dom's also gonna play winter ball in the Dominican to make up for sitting on the bench

Should I be concerned that the Phillies are 25-14 in 1-runs games, and it feels like they've been winning far more of those than they've been losing of late? And that they lose blow outs but don't blow anybody out?

Tomorrow setting up to be a potentially awesome day for our playoff odds

Hamels against Miller is a solid edge for us
Lowe against Duke is about as even as a Braves/Pirates game can get on paper
Billingsley against Luebke (who?) points to the Padres getting back on the losing track
Zito against Daniel Hudson in the desert; Zito has been bad recently, Hudson quite good

Not that all four are likely to go our way, but if we can win, figure to put some more distance between at least one or two of our closest competitors.
