I had a little hangover this morning, read it, and it went away because I was laughing so hard. It was like drinking a Gatorade and eating a breakfast sandwich for the soul.

Through 8 games opposing starters have averaged:

12 outs recorded
82 pitches thrown
4.625 earned runs
6.5 hits
2.375 walks

So they're averaging four innings a start. 10.41 ERA, 2.22 WHIP, 20.5 pitches per inning.

Wait, we have a closers role? I thought our plan was to just win by 5+ each night...

I like how it takes Vince until the sixth non-quote graf to mention the name. Because I seriously did not know what gender this person was:

From Paul Hagen:

Today is a double anniversary the Phillies would prefer to forget. On this date they were no-hit by the Cubs' Burt Hooton in 1972 and the Cardinals' Bob Forsch in 1978. And Montreal's Bill Stoneman missed by a day, no-hitting the Phils on April 17, 1969, at Connie Mack Stadium.
This is a simple game. You throw the ball, you hit the ball, you catch the ball.

What do you expect when you have the Nationals in town? They drove up 95 in big numbers to take over our stadium for payback from their opener.

It's also going to be the date Roy Halladay got his first perfect game as a Phillies. Book it.

I'm thinking today is as close as a 7-2 team in April can have to a "it would be a whole lot better if they won tonight" game as a team can have. But more important I guess is that Halladay gets the bullpen some needed rest.

If Moyer is a 'Human Rain Delay' then Halladay is a 'Human Off Day for the Pen'. Or as I will begin referring to him, HODFTP. I do not expect this to catch on.
