so he's had 5-run leads in about 40% of his wins.

it's the 8 NDs with a 5-run lead that raise an eyebrow here. He comes away without a W in ~ 1 of 11 games where he has at least a 5-run cushion. Seems like, proportionally, a lot of lost Ws.

I mean, if Roy has a 5-run lead in the 5th, and his right arm is severed from his body in a freak water fountain accident, he finishes the game lefthanded and still gets the win amirite
Yes, but in a double utley you can put your utley on top they other guy's utley, and you're the winner. (Swish)

A number of them were probably blown by people too weak minded to pitch in the 9th inning, like Ryan Madson

I guess they couldn't go with "April" for a boy.

Eh. Better than "Seven" I guess.

So Phils are 10-5 with a nice +35 differential right now (2nd MLB, TB).

Last year on this date they were 6-8 with a -15 run differential. 11-11 with a +7 in 2008.

Speaking of Brad Lidge, here's Will Carroll's input:

Brad Lidge is throwing well on his rehab. His final test will be throwing back-to-back games. Lidge could be back with the Phillies by the start of next week
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can

In 2009, Lidge rarely did well in back-to-back games. So this could be a good indicator.

martino at it again
New York Mets manager Jerry Manuel said he is considering moving 1B Ike Davis up in the batting order to split up the right-handed bats of 3B David Wright and OF Jeff Francoeur, according to the New York Daily News' Andy Martino. Manuel would then have to decide against using SS Jose Reyes and OF Angel Pagan in the No. 3 spot. There is also a chance that Manuel will leave Reyes in the leadoff spot and move OF Jason Bay to second in the lineup.

Good. Kid is impressive. I wonder how a guy who can touch 95 with a heavy sinker hadn't made it to the majors in 5 years of pro ball...

Pretty weird that three of the five games on this road trip have been won by teams scoring entirely on homers

I guess a 5 run lead in the 9th was enough for Charlie's nerves

Aumont tossed 6 no-hit innings today for Reading before being taken out.
