St. Louis did the father/son thing with the Bucks. Could that work in Philly with bringing on Todd Kalas? He did things here in the past and has worked the Rays games for a while.

Kalas is the Rays version of Murph, he doesn't do a whole lot

Listen, Phillies people, we know you check in on this site. He is awful, just terrible. We do not dislike him because he is not Harry, we dislike him because he is awful. Please end this madness.

i'm in the minority who does not think he's as bad as he once was.

he does let the ballgame remain silent for extended periods which is nice. i noticed he's stopped saying 'fair or foul' as much as he did (which used to be ridiculous because i'm not sure what his vantage point was, but a lot of times the balls were like 20+ feet fair or foul).

he just has this tendency to say these inane things that no one really cares or asked about, and finds the need to complete his points when sometimes action in the game is 'interfering' with his irrelevant point.

today was about the pronunciation of maikel franco's last name after he apparently this year told everyone to pronounce it differently and then in his mother's day recording he said it how everyone said it last year. he said 'we'll have to talk with him on the plane ride' and stairs is just sitting there and he has to be thinking WHO CARES?!

he also seems to have problems reading balls and then his 'should be memorable calls' sound ridiculous. i commented on one earlier in the season when the game ended with 'is it over (the left fielder - can't remember his name) head??!! IT IS!'

I don't like him, but I really don't think he's as bad as we make it out to be. Most announcers kinda suck.

But when you have a good one, they make the game really come alive.

yeah like the orioles guy has a great voice https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DarK8fswL_4

meanwhile we're stuck with a guy doing a bad impression of a game show host for 8 years.

That's the best description of him I've ever heard.

mtcal is right, he's gotten marginally better than when he first started, he doesnt fill space as relentlessly as he used to.

The sad thing is, he's still not very good. But he is less terrible. Having stairs and his laconic lowkey delivery next to him probably helps as much as anything.

Stairs is a quality guy for hitting. He's a bad color guy in general, I think.

The most frustrating thing with the tv broadcast is how great the radio broadcast is. So close yet so far

i enjoy stairs, maybe it's just me. i like how he takes shots at himself. the one on saturday where he mentioned something about baserunning and then talked about himself. Tom didn't respond and he said to tom something like 'you didn't catch that line?'

I don't think I like any of the announcers, including Schmidt.

the only thing i like about michael jack is that he's no more than 1-2x a week. it's a unique perspective but i think his lack of broadcasting expertise and experience comes through pretty clearly.

i think either just for a few innings at a pop or just once or twice a month is the most i think i'd want out of him.
