Really glad they were able to level there. Porto deserved it. It was also amusing that Old Trafford was quiet all night, they finally took the lead, and were singing "Glory Glory Man United" then Gary Neville lost his man for the third time in two games. Got quiet again quickly.

I like how last night I was judging all the people posting in the Sixers thread over the Phils, and this afternoon that will be me.

Pretty much the easiest Rafa XI to predict ever

Reina
Arbeloa Carra Skertl Aurelio
Alonso Lucas
Kuyt Stevie Riera
Torres

It's unclear how Chelsea haven't leveled.

Maurice Edu is now starting for Rangers after Ferguson got thrown off the team. Will someone please explain that to me? First, it seems people are way more mad about the hand signals than the actual drinking. Second, I'm not sure those hand signals were that bad unless there's some Scottish thing. Third, who gets thrown off his club team for some behavior at the country level?

Anyway, good news for us USMNT fans, and Edu scores. Beasley also started (he has an odd arrangement where he seemingly alternates starts and "does not dress" games) but he left with an injury 15 mins in.

the hand signal "V" is basically the samething as giving someone the finger in Scotland a Ranger fan told me. As for getting kicked off the team they hold their players to a higher standard when it comes to how you treat the fans and their respected federations then we do here.

Watching the Phils and Liverpool melt down simultaneously is pretty depressing.

This has pretty comfortably been the worst five minutes I've experienced in a long time.

That same guy had a remarkably unmarked header to make it 2-1. Drogba slotted home from a cross to make it 3-1. Whichever random African Chelsea player received the pass that made the cross looked offsides, but I was only half watching because I was busy focusing on fat Joe give up his 8th straight single.

Liverpool possibly playing worse right now than they did up at Boro a month ago. Horrific stuff.

The pic is this one:

The reason people are pissed is neither one nor the other but that it's both. First, Ferguson and McGregor were up drinking until 12 in the afternoon the next day, with another international which was must win for them 2 1/2 days away. So Burley takes no shite off the weegee bollixes and benches them. Then they both (mcgregor is doing the same thing) pull this nonsense. Ferguson is the country's captain, one of their most consistent players in the last 10 years, and he's acting like an arsey little schoolboy because he thinks burley shouldn't have yelled at him? Fuck that.

Furthermore, Walter Smith, had apparently explained to both players after the drinking session that he'd leave that be, but they better put their heads down, take their licks and get on with it. So Ferguson and McGregor weren't just taking the piss out of their national manager, they were directly disobeying their club manager. Walter Smith is very old school and doesn't take to being directly disobeyed. Hence the lifetime ban for club and country.

I wouldn't be in a hurry to say the scots hold their players to a higher standard. they don't, and rangers and celtic players are legends for acting like dickheads around glasgow whilst pissed, only to play the next day. It's just that they ran into the wrong too managers at the wrong time. Times are bad and getting worse, so seeing two well paid players acting like pricks isn't going to endear them to anyone, and I think both Burley and Walter Smith had this in mind.

Dunno, do they need him? The clock is ticking on wee barry, and he didnae do well with blackburn when he left rangers last time. I don't know whether he'd take going to a pompey or a hull. Maybe wigan. there's a good fit.

tell you what tho', rangers will make money of mcgregor. He's a decent keeper hitting his prime who's probably good for 4-5 years. Did well in the champions league last year. I could see the hunt for him being fairly intense.

1. I'd never take issue with them being mad at the drinking, I think that could be a lifetime ban in and of itself

2. I didn't realize that was like giving the finger

3. If I was a non-Scottish Rangers fan tho, I still might be angry cus we just lost 2 players and would likely have to transfer them for pennies on the dollar. However you're telling me that the price should be pretty competitive, so then I guess it's no big deal.
