Another OF have trouble with breaking ball.

Hitting ability: Hudson is a below-average hitter right now. He struggles with breaking balls and pitch recognition. He does have a level, direct swing, with an upright stance and high elbow.

If we sign either Dugan or Hudson it will probably be a miracle

I'd feel better about these tools guys if they weren't speed first. Give me an athlete who has the potential to hit 30-40 HR's if lightning strikes, not a guy who might leg out some infield hits if he can ever make contact with those ever so exotic breaking balls.

More Dom Brown/Mike Stanton big athlete types please.

do they want a lot of money? why will it be hard?

who knows, but i am afraid to trade away any of the OFers we have now if these two are supposed to replace them.

Kevin Goldstein (7:46:31 PM PT): The Phillies do take a signability guy in the third inning with ultra-athletic Kyrell Hudson, a high school centerfielder from Washington. His speed and arm both rank as 60-70 on the scouting scale.

He has no bat. It doesn't matter. He's at least four years away from contributing anything useful to a Major League team. He can have speed and be a good defensive player and it's not going to matter.

I think we're just biding our time until the 5th round, when we swoop in and pick up a big power hitter.

No. Hudson is much cheaper and we'll get the same results.

I stand corrected. This guy is not Hewitt v. 2.0, he is Hewitt Beta

You know it's a bad sign when lacrosse and football links come up before baseball stories about Hudson on Google

we need more michael bourn types. that's the key to success. that's been the kind of player who has fueled our recent rise to the top of the baseball world.

look at the homegrown guys who have contributed...were ANY of them (save maybe rollins) a "toolsy" draft pick?

maybe dom brown will break the mold and be the first of that line to have some real success, but so far most of those guys have really struggled once they got to the AA/AAA level and saw some close to MLB quality pitching.

I do not f'in care if a guy has a 60-70 arm unless he is a pitcher
