Defense was really good today, he didn't have many tough saves

2 points out of a playoff spot tied with Pitt and behind Ott, TB and the Devils with at least one game in hand on all but Pitt.

7-1-1 in their last 9 at the wfc

It's fun to see this young team claw its way back into the playoff race as it has plenty in the pipeline, inching closer to old, expensive teams like PIT and NYR which have nothing in the pipeline

Hextall has been an absolute godsend: he's far exceeded my expectations of what he'd do when he was hired.

It's no longer business as usual for the Flyers, and that's awesome IMO.

Great win. Defense was excellent without Ghost.

Hope we resign Medvedev. I like him a lot. Pair him with Provorov next year.

Was nice to be down there for the best win of the season thus far. Fully confident we can be in the playoff race for the rest of the way here. Things have not gone as expected this year and that could benefit us, namely the Jackets sucking. If we actually are close at the deadline I wouldn't mind sending a pick somewhere for a vet forward. In the short term, replacing Umberger is a must. He does not fit in at all.

Umberger is terrible. Not sure how you get rid of him until the draft. Definitely agree that if we are close, to go ahead and trade for some offense.

I'm guessing they want Weal to get acclimated but you have to let him play over Umberger. You see Umberger in person and you really recognize how bad he is.

If I'm Hextall, I'm not making any short term moves at the deadline (eg adding a veteran). He's done an incredible job and has this franchise on the cusp of having both an abundance of young cheap talent and the cap space to add significant talent.

The future for this franchise is oh so bright. These defensive prospects alone are incredible enough. Another solid draft and FA period and this team will be stocked.

Agree with the savior. This is a fun run and making the playoffs would be a great achievement for this group, especially Hakstol, but ultimately the defense isn't good enough to really go anywhere. Stand pat, see where this group can take you and continue with the plan next year.

I still cannot believe Hextall put a trade together in which a component of said trade was the player formally and legally agreeing to retire.

And we got a draft pick for guys we did not want.

I really like this team. Things are starting to come together and I don't think it's a huge deal to make an offensive upgrade. I am not talking about any of our own picks or prospects, but Chicago's 2nd and LAK's 3rd are both nice trade chips. I don't want to trade the assets it would take for Drouin, I'm talking more along the lines of a Radim Vrbata type (pending UFA, 30 goals last year, WINGER!) for LA's 3rd. Deadline is still 6 weeks away and alot can happen between now and then, but if we continue to play the way we have since Thanksgiving outside of the California disaster, I like our chances to make the playoffs and give a team fits.
