Phillies emerge on Ibanez

Postby Grotewold » Fri Jul 24, 2009 10:47:40

As if I needed more to love the guy, I've noticed Ibanez often (always?) comes to the plate with Pearl Jam playing.

I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

I've also seen Burrell and Pena take called third strikes in late innings with the winning runs on base. Like they're Ted Williams? Give me a break. Looks like they would rather get a walk than win the game with a hit. They're just lousy hitters!!

The Ibanez thing still amazes me. Every piece of statistical evidence pointed to an outcome nowhere close to what hes done. Even the head in the clouds optimists like Grote couldnt have predicted he'd be THIS good

I don't think the criticism was that Ibanez was a terrible player; it was that he wasn't a good defender and the contract was too long for too much money. There's still 2.3 years left on the contract.

I still don't like the contract but I'm enjoying the first two-thirds of the first season so far.

The criticism of the Ibanez and Burrell moves bordered on histrionics, which is what I reacted to.

If you go back and read what I wrote, I didn't make "head in the clouds" or even bold statements.

Let's not bicker over potential transactions; let's wait until the other shoe drops before passing judgment.

MLB teams have access to all sorts of information that we, the public, can't get, and I'm sure a young, progressive executive like Amaro uses it to its fullest value.

Besides, he understands the new economy of baseball, and is simply executing in that world, long before his bumbling comrades can even see it.

Why didn't the Phillies fire Gillick and hire Calvin Ball before it was too late? We would have won at least 10 World Series by now. I wouldn't have been satisfied with that mind you. But it's a lot batter than the crap we've had to put up with for the last six or seven years.

I'm reminded suddenly that the phrasing "emerge on" was kind of unsettling.
they were a chick hanging out with her friends at a bar, the Phillies would be the 320 lb chick with a nose wart and a dick - Trent Steele

Lol. I just did. Calvin gets his mother to shovel snow for him. He'd be an awesome GM.
