Phillies emerge on Ibanez

Shore wrote:I'm sure Ruben Amaro, Stanford grad and executive with the World Champion Philadelphia Phillies, has a master plan, and that it's sure to succeed.

After all, he studied under Pat Gillick, who guided this squad to a World Series victory.

Let's not bicker over potential transactions; let's wait until the other shoe drops before passing judgment.

MLB teams have access to all sorts of information that we, the public, can't get, and I'm sure a young, progressive executive like Amaro uses it to its fullest value.

Besides, he understands the new economy of baseball, and is simply executing in that world, long before his bumbling comrades can even see it.

8/10. Lacking gratuitous use of the T word, but other than that, solid.

Threads like this are why I don't post in threads like this. I think the last move I commented on was when I said I was glad they signed Jenkins.

I was worried as I scrolled through even though I knew I commented generally positively with the signing.

I will comment now: I am glad we emerged onto Ibanez.
Do it again!

I'm pretty sure there are other threads you can bump where the main concern is ages 38-39, not age 37.
Also, most of us didn't realize Ted Williams had taken over his body.

I seem to have not embarrassed myself in this thread. Given how I reacted to the news of the signing, I can only assume I didn't see it or was out of town at the time...

It's good, occasionally, to be as wrong as we all were (thus far at least) on Ibanez. Keeps us humble, or should. And while it's true that the out-years were the concern, he's already contributed far more than did Eaton, Jenkins, Helms, Barajas, et al.

being wrong when it helps the team is fine.

at the time, i hated the move.

but hes surpassed all of my expectations and more. i dont give a rip about his clubhouse presence, but i care that he hasnt been a liability in LF and hes hitting lefties as well.

what a twat

i guess we still gotta give up that first round pick though

He's got a weird spazzy swing, but I don't know that I've ever seen a dude more often get the barrel of the bat on a ball, no matter its location
