If Boston wins, tickets will get even more expensive and you can count on lots of RSox fans sitting at CBP and screaming anytime Boston does something good. Personally, I want as many Phils fans in those seats as possible and that means rooting for the Rays.
Plus, their young players will be fun to watch for a few games until we all hate them.

So, I propose we think about this in terms of which team would be more fun to beat.
And in my mind, the answer is clear--it would be way more fun to beat the Red Sox. The Fox guys will be fellating Tito and the rest of 'em, there will be constant talk about the amazing come back, blah, blah blah. Meanwhile, Cole, Jimmy, Chase, and the rest of the boys will be sweeping their sorry asses, and there will be much weeping among the national media.
I really like an "us against the world" story line. We're despised, hated, unlovable Santa Claus booers who never win anything. And we're taking this $#@! series. Serious.

Kazmir has a career OOPS against LHB of .574, compared to his .760 OOPS agains RHB. That's very significant. Who is our DH? Game 1 is on the road. Our bench consists of Coste, Bruntlett, Taguchi, Dobbs, Stairs, and Jenkins. While Matt Stairs only has a moderate drop in OPS against LHP, he still hits .748 against them instead of .861 against RHP. I think we'd need to use Coste as the DH, right? I mean, I know maybe we'd have someone else play DH and have Coste in the field (1B?), but the idea is that we'd play an additional RHB in the lineup. Would Charlie be against doing that? I mean, you could switch him to catcher if there was an injury to Ruiz, and I think that means you'd have to revert to your pitcher batting if your DH takes the field? It's probably not the worst situation to need to use a PH. I wish we had picked up a RHB with some pop at the deadline to be on the bench. We do hit LHP better than RHP, but it would be nice if our PH did late in games and our RHB DH could in the World Series (<--So awesome to be talking like this!)

There was the rumor that Marson would be added to the roster in place of Taguchi so that Coste could DH.

Pat Burrell isn't the most adept fielder -- manager Charlie Manuel routinely removes Burrell in the late innings for a defensive replacement -- so the Phils might consider using him as the DH. If that's the case, they could shift Jayson Werth to left field and start Jenkins in right.
