I don't think so. Who would you start in Game 5 anyway? Happ?
I know what you're asking yourself and the answer is yes. I have a nick name for my penis. Its called the Octagon, but I also nick named my testes - my left one is James Westfall and my right one is Doctor Kenneth Noisewater.

Yes, let's please prolong this series as long as possible. Really. I mean you ask the question, then offer no answers on who you would start in game 5. So, who would you start in game 5? Please don't say Moyer.

Moyer or Happ could start game 5. Moyer only threw like 30 pitches in game 3. If we lose game 5 with Hamels on the road would you could have Moyer at home for a possible game 7.
I would rather see you lose than win myself

absolutely not.

Hamels is your best SP. You start him in Game 5 and try to end the series. The Phillies have an edge with Hamels on the mound over any SP left in the playoffs. The Dodgers have to be drained right now. Let Cole put his foot on their necks.

I mean, if Hamels wins tomorrow, he will be pretty well-rested by the time the World Series starts

I like this idea
"I tell all kids not to use that word. If they're 29 and they win the World Series, I think they can say that.
But I definitely would say to all the kids out there, 'Kids, it's a bad word. Don't say it. And I'm dead serious.' "

Quote from USA Today when Manny was reminded that Boston game back down 3-1 a few years ago:

"That was Boston," Ramirez said. "That was a great team. This is different."

Not "wasting" Hamels in a game where the Phillies have HFA against them, I guess?

I say definitely not. Start Hamels tomorrow, Myers if need be on Friday, etc., and figure something out if, God forbid, a game 7 starter is needed.
they were a chick hanging out with her friends at a bar, the Phillies would be the 320 lb chick with a nose wart and a dick - Trent Steele

i would prefer start hamels now but i can provide a reasonable argument for waiting til game 6 or 7.

we need to win 1 out of 3. our odds of winning each game this way are about 50% each. if we start hamels in a home game and moyer in a road game, our odds in the road game go down to 40% and our odds in the home game go up to about 60%.

Odds of losing three straight games at 50% each:

12.5%

Odds of losing three straight games at 40%,50%,60%:

12.0%

Basically, if you can do something to encourage a split when you're ahead, you do it. But as you can see, the odds there are small. And I'm not willing to assume Moyer will be equally effective in Game 7 as he would be (or Happ would be) in Game 5.

Another argument would be to keep Hamels' innings down and have him very rested going into the World Series.

Still, I think you go with what's working and avoid taking anybody out of their rythym. Hamels FTW in Game 5!

I guess, but I don't think it's wasting, when in all likelihood it's their best chance at giving the whole team rest (inlcluding himself).

If the Phils don't win the games he doesn't pitch, there's still a great chance he needs to come in at some point to close something out. And if they don't win those games, he'll need to pitch a game anyway, and then he might not be ready for the start of the World Series.

I don't see it on their site, but a few other outlets, including the one below, are attributing it to USA Today
