He's like the big league version of the character in "Glory Days"- and his way of "recapturing the glory" is getting more bizarre/dangerous as time goes on.

Until he realizes that he's just another guy in a vast world, and stops thinking he's better than everyone because he played ball, he is done. His narcissism is killing him.
