Dykstra’s World Series Ring Tops $56,000 in Auction
Lenny Dykstra has been out of baseball for more than a decade, but he can still draw a crowd, at least for his memorabilia.
Dykstra’s 1986 World Series ring was sold for $56,762.50 at an auction in Dallas. The winning bidder was from Queens, paying almost three times what Heritage Auctions expected to bring in....

That's kind of weird to me. Why would you pay for an item that represents another man's achievements? It's like buying someone's purple heart, you didn't earn it.
I can see how certain memorabilia could have interest. But a championship ring? Does it have his name on it? I guess if its generic and repersents the WS champs, not a specific player -- and you are a fan of that team -- maybe it could hold some meaning, and not seem lame.. I don't know...
Now, if there was a special signed photo that's different -- but a champion ring represents a man's achievement... what do you have when you own that??
