No, I didn't see anything about the Rule V pick being offered back or optioned.

If you mean the actor from the hit TV show Home Improvement, he is still alive.
Signature? Why do they need me to sign here? I don't think I'm comfortable with that.

From Radano:
Right-handed pitcher Lincoln Holdzkom cleared waivers and is now a free agent. Holdzkom was selected by the Phillies in MLB's Rule 5 Draft this past December. He can be signed to a contract - most likely a minor league one - by the Phillies.

This move opens a spot on the 40-man roster and with Kris Benson prepped to throw on Thursday, the spot may be his by March 25.

I suppose the good news is that if Benson is healthy, he's likely to be as effective as Lohse. But the bad news is we could probably use both of them if Kendrick doesn't get straightened out.

Shouldn't he go back to the Red Sox, not become a free agent?

The Phillies had to first offer him to his former team for $25K. If they decline to pay that, they have to place him on waivers for any other team to claim (with the same Rule 5 restrictions). If he clears those waivers, he's free to sign with any team (including the Phillies) for a minor league deal.

He was offered back and the Sox said no thanks according to this:

The sox have no room/desire to have him back I think. It would be cool if he turned out to be the pitching version of Victorino.
