the reasoning that was if the pats lost that it would devalue the eagles win- that they hit the patriots franchise on the front end of their decline. and if the pats won, it would prove that the eagles had beaten a force that was still to be reckoned with.
i don't buy it at all, but that was the reasoning.

I didn’t sit there exactly rooting for the Patriots but I can’t say I minded that they won. And yeah, it’s because of Sean McVay. Not even so much him but the media’s reaction to him, like he is some kind of epoch-defining genius.
