Full-frames are big money, so don't worry about that if you're just starting. As mentioned in this thread, dpreview.com is a huge resource.

Sweet stuff. Love that macro shot. I have a ton of unprocessed pics to go through from the last 6 months. Really been slacking.

So I took this photo a few years ago off of my boat. Always liked it and the original post process version that I had printed is great. I'm currently designing a simple website for a local CPA and I thought it would look good as the background for the main page...

Original Process:

New Process:

Any thoughts? It's an AC firm so I thought the new process with AC architecture would work. Probably need to move the header to the left more but I'm more concerned about the photo.

I keep it pretty simple.
I have a Pentax K-3 and use three lenses and two filters (CP, ND)
For basic shots I use a Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8
For most telephoto I use a Pentax 60-250mm f/4
When I feel like carrying a heavy load I'll bring my Sigma 150-500mm f/5-6.3
I also have a modified Lumix camera converted to take Infrared.
For post-processing I use Lightroom 5.

Which lens did you use for the macro?

Two of those "lenses" aren't actually lenses. The only lens is the EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6.

I think the trend in midrange digital photography is away from SLRs and towards mirrorless cameras, which are substantially more compact and at least theoretically cheaper than their SLR equivalents. If I were looking to buy into a camera system at this point I'd certainly lean that way, because otherwise you might find yourself with a lot of suddenly obsolete gear if Canon or whoever discontinues that line.

The Canon Rebels are DSLRs. They have a mirrorless line but it seems like they're not really selling them in the US.

that is good to know. blast.

the mirrorless ones seem great but the luminix one is like 700 bucks. i cant really find any ones cheaper than that are worth buying.

This. Mirrorless 100%. Olympus and Sony mirrorless systems are legit.
