Penn Park is so sweet. My pic isn't as cool as that one, though (edit: i swear someone had posted a professional-looking pic of the Philly skyline from Penn Park in here):

Do you think April is too early for a Roger Dorn night?

Went to a tulip festival a few weeks ago. Here's 3 pics of the little one among the flowers.

I'm finally starting to get together my pics from this year, so I'll try to post some more before I leave here for the summer.

Spent last week in Oregon, visiting my folks. Visits home are always a great opportunity for photography, because Oregon is amazingly scenic.

Among my favorite photographic subjects are flowers. All of the flower shots are from my mother's amazing backyard garden. This is bee balm:

I think these are daisies:

No idea:

Hydrangea:

While visiting, we spent two days on the coast, and from there ventured to Cape Perpetua, where there is an amazing trail (which swishnicholson mentioned recently) that takes you some 800 vertical feet in a little over a mile, resulting in this view:
Image

At the bottom of the Cape Perpetua trails is the Devil's Churn, a one-time lava cave whose roof collapsed, leaving a rock channel that funnels the surf inward resulting in incredible and sometimes very scary plumes of spray. This was pretty tame, despite being exactly at high tide (by design):
Image

We also hiked to Drift Creek Falls, a wonderful little waterfall that is located fully in the middle of nowhere - to reach the trailhead, you have to go up nine miles of the twistiest, slowest paved road imaginable. We averaged about 25 miles an hour and didn't see another moving vehicle the entire time, except a bulldozer clearing debris from an apparent mudslide off the roadway. But when we got to the parking lot at the top, there were about 20 cars there. Go figure. Anyway, this is the falls seen from the suspension footbridge that overlooks it:
Image

And this is just a shot I took from the trail on the way to the falls:

And this is the scene on the beach in Waldport, Ore., on a random Thursday afternoon in July. This is why the Oregon coast rules.

Oh, and just because - we went to a Corvallis Knights game while in town. (That's a wooden-bat college summer league, a la the Cape Cod League.) But while there, I saw this guy, and did a double-take.
