I JUST CAME HERE TO POST THAT

That final line drawing would be a cool logo for something chess-related. Or a tattoo.

I've always wanted to be good at chess, and I have always, always, always been bad. And losing at chess angers me more than anything else in life for some reason, so I can't say chess is "fun" for me. And yet, I still want to be good at it.

has anyone ever sat down with you and showed you basics like controlling the center, tempo, establishing early position, plausible opening moves? there's a lot of concepts that seem so head-slappingly obvious once someone has shown them to you

some people really don't like to resign, and then I'm up a rook and four pawns and sure, it's taking me a while to close in for the kill, and they start to be all, "This is boring, there's no good moves I can make," "Yeah, because you've already lost, resign already," "No I'm not gonna quit," ffs

I've read about them, but my big problem with chess is always the same: I fall in love with whatever my "plan" is, and grow impatient and just want to do it. Thus, I always make big, stupid mistakes. No matter how hard I tell myself to slow down.

a thing that chess.com has and i like a lot is they allow you to flip the board and look at it from the opponent's perspective. it really helps you see some of your opponent's moves that you might not see coming otherwise
