Really happy that I shouldn't need to buy tires for about 5 years. Can't believe how slow these places are for an oil change and 4 tires. Think I spent more on 2 sets of tires in the last month than I will on gas for the year.

Choosing NTB for that set of tires yesterday turned into a disaster. Absolutely cannot recommend (at least that location). Letting them perform an oil change was the worst decision - they overfilled it likely because they never changed the filter.

Getting a new tire to replace the spare they sent for recycling instead of mounting and about $60 refunded.

We're gonna trade in our leased Impreza for a leased Forester. Will be cool to have a bigger car, but also, bigger car kinda stinks as well.

Why does a bigger car kinda stink?

For the newer car I have also. Well, the QuickLane attached to the Ford dealership mostly. The Hyundai I traded on it was serviced at Firestone after I moved and always had great service. Maybe working for the same company influenced the service I received.

You might be able to get a deal on the Forrester since it sounds like the Ascent (4 cyl turbo) is taking that market share

Lease is about 350 a month for 12k miles on a Forester. Basically the same price at all the dealerships around us.

I'm not a big fan of bigger vehicles. More blind spots, less manueverability. Also it'll be my wife's which means she has to parellel park it in the city and it's basically a small truck. She'll end up taking my VW Golf into the city everyday I'm guessing and I'll be the one driving the Forester.

I think the Forester is the exception wrt blind spots. It has much better visibility than my smaller Optima

If the concern with blind spots is parallel parking, don't all but the most stripped down basic new cars have rear view cameras that make parallel parking pretty easy as long as you know the basics?

I'm considering getting rid of my 09 Camry. Just not using it much and even pre-Covid, had like 1 or 2 possible instances where there might have been a conflict and needed two cars after my fiance got her new one last June. Thinking of going down to a 1-car household, but of course I'll probably sell it and instantly regret it. Not sure I want to go through the whole private sale thing right now if stuff is closed. Anyway, anyone in the Philly region want an 09 Camry with 106K miles on it? It's in decent shape. :-D

nah, its not parking related. its more about 20 miles of highway driving in the philadelphia region.

Sensors help if they're included.

6 bucks for something like this helps too. https://www.amazon.com/Ampper-Square-Ho ... ors-pcr-20

Blind spot warning is a pretty good safety feature that probably should be standard. Back up cameras are great, but probably less important from a safety aspect than blind spot warnings.

While I like the blind spot warning it's not perfect on my Escape. Also, without adding a head-check I'd feel like I was cutting people off sometimes.

i like the blind spot warning. most of my rentals have had it. unless people are half assing their mirrors with it, still gotta look mirrors and quick head check, because yeah you can still cut people off.

In our Mazda, it will only alert you if you put the blinker on. So if you're obnoxious enough to change lanes without a blinker, you probably don't really care about cutting people off.
