I've set the mirrors like that since I first started driving and assumed other people did the same. HOW ABOUT THAT

Well, it's "Sun's Up, Lights Out" and The Marty Show is the poster. Glad to see he's still posting on PhilliesPhans since, if I remember correctly, he had a cancer scare.

Your "green" electric car? It's coal-powered.

The fact that most electricity is actually generated from fossil fuels is hardly news. But the article asserts that while electric cars result in slightly less net CO2 emissions, pollution from coal power plants is actually far worse than from gasoline-powered cars.

Instead of focusing on electric cars, we should focus on making coal-fired power cleaner.

How about both? Continue development of electric cars to cut their consumption while also developing cleaner fossil-fuel electricity generation techniques?

The article focuses entirely on the environmental impact of electrics, while completely ignoring one very big incentive to drive one: they're dirt-cheap to operate. Depending on your mileage, you might easily save money over the life of a car with electric, despite generally higher purchase prices.

I thought their last album was pretty much overlooked and a decent return to form. Never the same without Ben Orr, though. I wish I would have tried harder to see them on tour, because from what I heard Ocasek really was not a fan and probably won't do something like that again.

As far as electricity, we're dumbshits for building new coal fired plants, and we should really be talking about phasing out coal altogether. But I don't give a shit about fracking--I say frack away! And I really think there's got to be a way to make nuclear energy cheaper and while I understand that I'm Monday morning QBing here a bit, major nuclear accidents seem to be a result of dumb things like leaving diesel back up generators in places that could flood, a mistake that I would guess would be caught by anything remotely resembling not 6 sigma but 2 sigma quality control would have caught that.

so my car A/C died last Wednesday, at 4:30AM in the middle of a tsunami. The cooling isn't the important part- it's the dehumidification. Checked all the electrical components, tried those home charging things. Jiffy Lube put it on the machine and sez it's not holding pressure- there's a leak (although the gauge on the home charging thing said it was good). The compressor clutch just never engages. Explained all this to my mechanic today- he said "uh-oh, you're in trouble". Can't take it until next Thursday, though.

S'OK- the wife has a company car, so her '06 Accord is sitting in the driveway and hasn't been moved for months. Figured I'd just use that for now. Go out, had to jumpstart it...and the A/C doesn't work. :( Same exact symptom, too- the compressor clutch doesn't engage...

You checked at the compressor's wire connector with a voltmeter to see if it's getting power and ground? If no power/ground, check the relay and fuse. (Fuses are cheap, relays not so much, fuses and relays you've pocketed at the boneyard are free :P )

It never will engage if there's a leak that left you sans refrigerant, so your mechanic is right in that you may have enough trouble for a blues song.

the compressor is buried, so I didn't pull the connector. I did short out the relay socket to make sure that I was sending juice to the wire. Haven't confirmed that it actually got to the compressor though.
