Have to say, not too stoked on it. Lots of little annoyances and bills over the last few years like some corroded engine bolts and my two separate key remotes breaking at the same time. Think I'll prob go a different brand shortly. The dumb part of me wants an Audi while the practical side says a Honda.

Damn... I also have an '06 Impreza. Bought it new and haven't had any expenses other than upgrades and regular maintenance. Bringing it in for inspection in November so hopefully nothing big comes up. How many miles on yours? I'm just under 74k.

Mine has about 86K miles on it, which I guess is when things start acting up, but I thought it'd be closer to 100K when it would. I learned yesterday that it was leaking oil and that my head gaskets were about to go, plus I had a torn axel, and the amount to fix both is pretty high for what the car is worth. Gong.

Now it barely did any damage (just got an estimate for $515 to fix the paint on the back bumper) but I since its a brand new car for me I want to get it taken care of. Come to find out the woman's insurance coverage has lapsed and she has until the 2nd to pay it or they wont cover anything.

I already know I'm going to get screwed here. Is there anything I can do to make sure she gets screwed too? I know this doesn't make me a good person, but I want her to suffer if I'm going to.

Got a call this afternoon to let me know that she paid her bill. Getting my car fixed on the 11th with no out of pocket cost for me.

Still rocking my 2006 Scion Xa i bought brand new in 2006. Never had any major maintenance done other than brake pads and shaving down some rotors for the brakes and replacing tires. Just passed 90k for mileage. I'm driving this sucker into the ground.

However, this morning I did just crash my rear view mirror against my trash can and the cover for it popped off, but seemed to pop right back on! Yeah baby.

yeah, those cars will kill on those lonely drives to and from dover, delaware. can probably get a used one for a solid price. diesel engines last longer than normal engines as well.

ended up getting a brand new hyundai elantra. their warranty is unbeatable. i looked at a ford fiesta before going to hyundai and the dealer there was steering me towards buying used bc their warranty on a certified pre-owned car is better than the one on a brand new car :q

Might be more of a case of the salesperson wanting more commission with the used. I bought a ford focus and yes the warranty was less than Hyundai but it was more than solid. The salesperson basically told me he gets shit for commission on new cars and he has to make his money on bonuses he gets from quantity and positive surveys from ford.

I was in PARA over the weekend and discovered that you all pay 0.20-0.30 more per gallon for diesel the I do. That is a huge difference. I have not paid more then $3.99/g for a rather long time. Old Denver was 3.22 at turkey hill and 3.30 at the former Citgo. I just drove back to VA to fill up (still have 1/4 tank after driving up, 2 stops in Denver and a stay in the city, then back to VA via Denver again).

So that is about $4.50 per fill up more in PA or an extra $108 a year to the cost of ownership at the pace I drive.

Discovered that the is some crazy diesel rebate in va at .30/gallon, so that delta is over $200 a year for me.

Drove a 2005 Passat TDI until 2012. Great car - and I could get 50 mpg highway -- if I drove like an old man in the right lane with a Greek fisherman's cap. But even driving it like I stole it - 38 mpg.

Now I drive a VW CC (not diesel) that gets 26 mpg around town and 35ish highway.

PARA was an artifact. Reading back I guess I assumed that the route explanation of VA to Denver to city, and backtrack might have lead the reader to get that was PA, but I clarified. That would be Denver in Lancaster county.

WRT mileage TP. I got 42.8 with 4 people in the car and a 3/4 full trunk (this is a 3 body trunk on a Passat) driving mostly at 80MPH, so you need not be so gentle. I only hit 50 when I am on the highway driving solo at beltway speeds. Most highway driving keeps the car around 48 MPG calculated. My daily drive into DC for 32 miles averages 46MPG, and out in more traditional stop and go traffic is still 36-38 (take me 15-30 extra minutes in the evening). I am getting between 515 - 540 miles per tank.

haven't really car shopped in like 25 years. Thought everything was simpler with trim models and very few add-ons. But Mazda and Nissan are crazy. Trim packages, plus other packages, plus accessories. the Mazda bundling makes no sense. In order to get the moonroof I need to buy the bose sound system. No way am I paying one cent for bose. If I go that way they're going to have to somehow deduct the cost of the soundsystem from the package if they want me to take the moonroof.

that is, of course, if the 'ol CR-V is deemed totalled. Allstate inspection on Monday. Fingers crossed. 38 more months!!
