I love Kornheiser. I just don't like ESPN's take on sports. Reali is OK when he's not surrounded by sportsnonwriters

I watch both shows every day.

BS Report is the only podcast I really listen to. I might have responded on the first page of this thread, but I'm too lazy to check.

Checking income and data and such in a little cubicle all day makes one look for things not to crack, so I listen to a lot of podcasts throughout the week.

Now this I agree with.

I DESPISE ESPN's coverage of sports, I only watch the channel if there is a game on or for PTI, but their podcasts are much more level-headed IMO because they have more time to go in-depth instead of just bombarding you with the superstars and forcing stuff down your throat.

Just my opinion, but I think that ESPN does a decent job with their podcasts. Except the Hockey Today one. TOTAL joke. They've updated it once since the start of the conference finals lol

I think we are on an island here. Judging by stuff I've read in the past everyone here wants Kornheiser, Wilbon and Reali dead.

I enjoy both shows.

I'm with you. They're the only shows I watch on ESPN.

FilmJunk. The best movie podcast. Listen to a recent one for the latest, but the most classic ever is episode 137, due to a story Jay tells.

my dad gave me a tiny ipod shuffle that he won somewhere which ive had packed away for two years. i took it out a few weeks ago, enjoyed it for a while, and then i put in through the wash. im not good with small items.

however listening to world war z, spoken book of the aftermath of the zombie world war, made it well worth it.
Why not just go storm Normandy and get shot in the face while you're at it
Why not get a plumbing license and run around high on shrooms stealing peoples' pocket change

I'll throw out another suggestion for On the DL. Those guys are great and talk about Philly sports, sports media, and pop culture and news media related topics.

Great daily listen.

I was listening to the Corolla podcast today b/c Simmons was on it, and I was actually laughing so hard during parts of it that I looked like a maniac on the walk to work. I always thought Corolla was pretty funny before, but it's a perfect format for him--no censors or time restrictions.

The Simmons podcast is pretty good, too. The different format gets him off of two of the things that have hampered his writing recently, as he doesn't recycle material as much, and he seems way less smug about Boston teams on the air.

And good to see folks listening to On The DL. Nick, the co-host, is a good friend of mine that I've known since second grade, I believe. He's a good dude and crazy sports fan.

the simmons podcast can certainly be good and I find myself listening to most, but there's something about that guy that I can't stand.

I listen to the WIP podcasts because they tend to save the best interviews; find myself liking Eskin's more than Gargano and Macnow.

Jody Mac is similarly spliced, it's a good way to cut through the enormous amount of fat (calling into) on philly talk radio. No Missanelli podcast; I would listen to that even though I don't generally like him.

there are some good lost podcasts: Jay and Jack, Black Rock, the official one hardly ever comes out but the audio version (with Lindelof and Cuse) is a must for Lost fans.

Agreed with all points, including that about Simmons. I've only listened to one of his so far, but his voice is kind of annoying and he just sometimes makes points that are kind of ridiculous and would never actually happen. Maybe some people like that but when I'm listening to an analyst I want to hear ideas that could actually happen.

Just started listening to the Wall Street Journal Today podcast and it is really good. 35 minutes or so of useful news, etc. with very little BS in between, but not boring at all.

the most recent Carolla Podcast with his old buddies was GOLD. CHeck it out, some of the stuff had me really laughing: link

Also found a podcast with Todd Glass called Comedy and Everything Else. It's about much more than comedy, but the comedy stuff with Todd Glass and the other guy Jimmy Dore is insanely funny. I love Glass' silly sense of humor. Every time he goes into a Tom Jones-style intro I burst out laughing. I had to stop running one day this week because I couldn't stop laughing; I probably looked nuts.

absolutely love Carolla, getting real tired of Simmons (need him back on carolla so he can worry about being off-the-air because of him dropping the f bomb) who conducts an awkward slurp fest with supposed rival Cowherd on today's podcast.

but I am listening.

edit: and he underhandedly accuses Abreu of using while discussing old ESPN classic home run contests

Good comedy podcasts I regularly listen to:

"Comedy Death Ray"- Interviews and conversations from host Scott Aukerman with stand-up comics, actors, and comedy writers. Between each segment they play new and classic novelty songs. Some guests have been Sarah Silverman, Patton Oswalt, Weird Al Yankovic, Andy Samberg, Zach Galifianakis, Jon Hamm, Howard Kremer. Recently the show has featured a game called "Would You Rather".

"I Love Movies with Doug Benson" - Kind of a sister podcast to Comedy Death Ray. Doug talks movies (though he gets off topic occasionally) with his guests, also actors and comedians. Half the show is reserved for movie-related party games.

"WTF with Marc Maron" - This is a new podcast that just started this month, and has a new episode twice a week. Marc starts out neurotically ranting about politics, social issues, or his own hang-ups and then talks to a famous guest about something much lighter. From the way he talks, Marc might remind you of the more famous Richard Lewis.

For college football fans, I love the Solid Verbal podcast (www.solidverbal.com) done by 2 guys from SI.com. Funny and good analysis, self-depreciating humor makes it a nice change of pace from ESPN's stuff

I canceled Sirius and needed a Stern replacement, so I've been downloading Carrola and Simmons each morning.

I enjoy 90% of Simmons but wish he'd talk about NL baseball.
