Although a great flick, House of Games isnt about poker it's about con games. Rounders is considered the big poker movie- it's inspired the current generation of young poker players.

I'd also add Dog Town & Z-Boys for skateboarding.

I do like Caddyshack; I just don't think it deserves its following.

Dodgeball is just dreadful.

I suppose as a runner I should nominate a running or track and field film, but they're almost all pretty bad. I guess Chariots of Fire by default. Running Brave isn't awful and Endurance, about Haile Gebrselassie is well done but probably of limited interest to anyone not already interested in the subject.

Running, with Michael Douglas, should deserve a mention in just about any of the inevitable worst sports movie lists

Can't Gallipoli count as a track movie? It's pretty good.

Have you seen Prefontaine or Without Limits? They're both the same movie about the exact same topic and they both came out at the same time, but I think they're both pretty decent.

DIdn't we do this once already? I can't get through The Rookie without getting weepy. I read the book, and it bugged me that the guy was in real life, a jackass, that he couldn't stay married, etc. But I still love the movie.

I would agree with this, but I was a little too familiar with the material beforehand to get wholly into either film. And I couldn't really even tell you which one I liked better since I saw them pretty closely together and they're sort of blurred, although I think I preferred the less slick Prefontaine.

Probably. I did do a search, but I wasn't sure what to look for because sports and movies come up very often on this site. I wasn't going to look through literally hundreds of threads to find the right one.
