The Chinese Restaurant has one of the best scenes ever though. When the girl calls for George and the host yells Cartwright. I could watch that scene on loop
the best episode is The Boyfriend and its not even close. the Zapruder film re-enactment with Roger McDowell as the conspiracy piece is the greatest moment in TV comedy history. (the fact that wayne knight was in Oliver Stone's JFK is just icing on the cake.) i am prepared to argue this point until the day i die.
Gonna muddy the waters mixing in the Brit stuff, but here goes my all-time TV rankings:
1. Seinfeld. By a large margin
2. Fawlty Towers. Would be #1 if it ran for 9 seasons
3. The Office (British version)
4. Cheers (hasn't aged well, though)
5. Simpsons
6. The Office (US version)
7. 30 Rock (sure am enjoying it in the moment)
8. Northern Exposure
9. All in the Family
10. Taxi
And I always like the episode where Kramer finds the Pig Man. Just something about it makes me laugh uncontrollably. The JFK scene in "The Boyfriend" never gets old either.
You're the conductor Ruben. Time to blow the whistle!
I don't think the problem with Cheers is its not aging well. I think the Kirstie Allie episodes are weak, and while Norm and Cliff and Sam and even Woody are still funny, without Diane, the show lost the zing that made it one of the best sit coms ever. So, those episodes no longer seem all that funny. Now All in the Family is a show that hasn't aged well. It really was a product of its time. MASH is another one that hasn't aged all that well, but I find the occasional rerun funny. Honeymooners by contrast can still be hilarious. Hellooooo, ball.
I really wish Taxi was syndicated. That is my favorite sit com of all time.
Big fan of WKRP in Cincinatti; brought something new to the sitcom in the late-70s, too bad they had to take out a lot of the music for the dvd release.
FTN wrote:its not in syndication because people complained.
I've seen it on TBS in the past.
yeah it's definitely still on, it's just so rare compared to every other ep. kinda like the simpsons with the twin towers; you can still catch it from time to time, just not with the same frequency.
I know that it wasnt shown for a while after the show went off the air but thats cool if they are showing it now. I never watch on tv since i have the DVDs.

23. The Boyfriend - Always thought this one was overrated, but still makes the top 25 for the "second spitter" bit
22. The Checks - Its a Fardman.
21. The Revenge - The scene where Kramer dumps the cement into the washer is one of my favorite scenes in any episode.

02. The Doll - The scenes where they are trying to play pool are hilarious. Classic Kramer.
01. The Gum - The way they tie all the storylines together, especially the George blaming Lloyd Braun for everything bit is hilarious and really encapsulates what made the show so awesome for me.
I also think the Finale is underrated. I think people were looking for the wrong thing out of the episode, and in the context of the series, I think it was awesome. I'd put in the 26-30 range.
