Psyched to find this thread! TMBG was my first major band obsession. My dad and I saw a ton of shows back in the '90s. I stopped following them closely after Factory Showroom but still enjoy the new stuff I've heard.

Anyone happen to pick up a couple of extras for the Union Transfer show in March? I didn't hear about it until it was already sold out and I'd love to surprise my dad by taking him. I'll pony up on Stubhub if I have to, but tickets are like $120 with fees so I'd prefer to avoid that, if possible.
These guys need a little bit more lead in their diet.

A few more shows added, but not in Philly

[Reveal] Spoiler:
Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Boston, New York City, St. Paul, and (both!) DC shows essentially sold out instantly over the weekend, so our conscientious management have discussed contingencies with promoters and club owners and we can now confirm new shows to meet the demand. While these new shows will go on sale to the general public on Friday, they are open to our email list tomorrow (Thursday) at 10am ET with the code ROADMOVIE.

Great article about the 30th anniversary of Flood: https://music.avclub.com/they-might-be-giants-defied-the-major-label-curse-with-1840974335

My dad's having knee surgery so he won't be able to come to town, but I'm still looking for tix for March if anyone comes across extras. They ain't getting any cheaper on StubHub!

Disappointed that Hide Away, Folk family wasn't incorporated into the soundtrack of A Quiet Place.

Those who were supposed to go to Friday''s show (me :ce: ) know this all too well, but:

Hello friends. As The World Health Organization has declared the coronavirus a pandemic, we are taking this information as our cue to reschedule our March and April shows to later in the year. While we have not been instructed by any authority, we feel it is the responsible thing to do.

Our concerts in NYC, Philadelphia, and Washington, DC have all been moved to September and December. Your current tickets will be honored for the new dates.

These are the changes to the tour schedule:
March 13 in Philadelphia is rescheduled for September 8
March 14 in NYC is rescheduled for September 13
April 11 in NYC is rescheduled for December 9
April 8 in DC is rescheduled for December 10
April 9 in DC is rescheduled for December 11
April 10 in DC is rescheduled for December 12

We hope the May tour can proceed as planned, but only time will tell. If we need to reschedule, we will notify everyone as far in advance as we can.

Please direct any questions you might have to idlewild@tmbg.com.

Let’s all stay calm and wash our hands early and often.

As we eagerly look forward to a less complicated time, we have been planning the return of They Might Be Giants’ Instant Fan Club, along with some public postings and more to try to help everyone get through their unlikely day. Here are some simple things you might want to check out in your free moments:
THIS FRIDAY (3/27) A TMBG WATCH PARTY 7 PM EST.
We will be streaming a performance from our Brooklyn show in October of 2015 this Friday evening (March 27) at 7pm EST, and as it streams you can chat in real-time with other TMBGers.
Go to ParticleMen, our official YouTube channel and SUBSCRIBE now. Make sure to also click that little bell next to the subscribe button so that you don't miss the notification. Later, as new videos, events and vibe reports are added, you will also get simple notifications.

Well, that had some fun times but was pretty disappointing. firsst 12 minutes had distorted sound, was out of sync and had a low grade picture. After that the sound cleared up pretty well and the picture was, well, adequate, but it drifted further and further out of sync, eventually stopping the video about two minutes before the audio. Oh well.

tmbg gifted a download of Flood live in Australia. (it's still available for whomever wants it).

"problem" is, the album is in reverse order. I'm wondering if they played it that way as some sort of Australia wrong-way gag

from theymightbegiants.com:

THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS PRESENT
THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY FLOOD SHOW
In honor of the album that made them an international act, They Might Be Giants is celebrating Flood’s 30th anniversary in 2020 by performing the album, in its entirety, on stages in select cities across the US. The show is “an evening with” and TMBG will play two full sets with their electrifying live band featuring the trumpet genius Curt Ramm. The sets will span the band’s entire career from early favorites to brand new tracks, as well as the live improvisations that have become a highlight of TMBG shows, and somewhere in there will be FLOOD. All 19 songs! Will they be in sequence, reverse sequence, alphabetical order, or mixed into additional repertoire? It’ll be different every night!

Can we get a GoFundMe together and buy up all but like 9 tickets so we can still see them in September?

Y'all remember Flansburgh's solo group Mono Puff? They popped into my head and I've been bumping them all morning.

Here's the video for Devil Went Down to Newport. Quite appropriately it was recorded as part of a 120 Minutes broadcast, and includes Matt Pinfield's intro!
