I'm a Catholic that is steadily moving away from the church and religion in general. This latest round of scandal might be the last straw for me. Seems like if God cared, he would protect those children, and see to it that he doesn't call molesters to be his priests.

I don't begrudge anyone their religion though.

I should let this go. I completely see where you are coming from. However, here's the deal- the church is one thing, God is another. The church is humanity's attempt to reflect the divine. As it is human to begin with, it does on occasion fail. Probably more than "on occasion".

Just don't want you throwing the baby out with the bathwater, buddy.

Of course you guys all know where I fall on this. I want this guy and all other assholes who pull this shit to stop. Also, I'M A MINISTER AND I'M MARRIED. LET THE PRIESTS MARRY. DEPRIVING A HUMAN BEING OF A PRIMARY HUMAN DESIRE IS JUST GOING TO FUCK THINGS UP.

Beez, is it really appropriate to wish people a "happy" Ash Wednesday? I mean, today after lunch I wanted a cookie, but I didn't have one because of Lent. What's so happy about that? (But I'm wondering--our Ash Wednesday service is this evening, so does my Lent begin only after I've had the Ashes applied? Could I have had that cookie?)
