Thought he said “go ahead” live.

I thought he said good, my wife thought he said go ahead. My wife is usually right about these things.

I'm sure he'll clarify it on Twitter later saying he said both "good" and "go ahead"

Oh well.

About oil? Pretty sure even the oil industry knows it is over regardless of what Trump or Biden say. Coal is in their driveway waiting to drive off into the sunset together.

“Where’s all this money coming from?” Graham asked in an interview Wednesday with The Hill. “Some of these shadowy figures out there running ads, is there any foreign influence afoot?”

“I don’t know what’s going on out there, but I can tell you there’s a lot of money being raised in this campaign,” the senator told The Hill.

Graham called for an investigation into the process. “When this election is over with, I hope there will be a sitting down and finding out, ‘OK, how do we control this?’” Graham said. “It just seems to be an endless spiral.”

A-okay for Graham, et al to bring in money hand over fist from corporations (remember they are people) but we have to do something about the average Jane and Joe donating to Ds. Also, enough with the fucking conspiracy theories. Is that really all the GOP has in its arsenal?

See, this is where I get confused with politics, politicians and the people who are so caught up in politics they post on the Internet about politics (irony duly noted). How was that a good line from Biden? I consider my family a pretty basic, average middle-class family and I related to nothing Biden said to me about middle class families. We've had none of those conversations around our breakfast table. I don't look over in bed and see or feel an empty spot because COVID robbed me of a partner. None of the other generalizations throughout the evening hit home.

His "good line" was meaningful to a tiny fraction of 1% of Americans. The rest of it was meaningful only to suckers who are sponges for empty politician drivel.

Biden is a better 2020 presidential candidate than Trump. Biden is also a horrendous presidential candidate and it's simply a shame this is the best either of these dominant parties can present to us in 2020. This is how far we've come as America...two angry, bitter 70+ white males being presented as the best options to lead us. This is really a sad time for us.

The debate was much better moderated (many kudos to the strength of Kristen Welker) and helped tremendously by the muted mics, but quite boring to me as a casual observer who doesn't like either of these men. I know it's a throw-away, but I'll probably vote for the Libertarian lady I know nothing about simply because she's not one of these two entertainers. I voted for the Green Party person in 2016 for the same reason...and that was the first time I did anything like that in 7 or 8 general elections in which I've been an eligible voter. Neither guy last night said anything new except for Trump perhaps coming up with more fraud slander off the top of his head. Trump was better about responding on the spot to things that came up, but Biden was much better prepared to make sure his pre-planned stump speech was clearly heard by Americans. I understand many of the immediate poll results of the debate going Biden's way because of this. I don't think he was a better debater, but he presented a clearer campaign speech even if it often deterred from what he was asked.

Biden fumbled for words and his clarity of mind failed too often to give me overwhelming confidence of the hands we'll be in for the next 4 years. Biden looked pale and at times even frail, but I'm going to chalk most of that up to the bright lights and Trump's orange-ness making Biden's white-ness seem exaggerated. For Rs, I'm sure one signature moment of the night was the stunned silence after Biden essentially admitted to getting little done during his terms as Obama's VP. It's an extremely weak defense to blame a Republican Congress...and Trump was right to call him on it. But for any ground Trump could have gained in either debate, he repeatedly self-implodes with accusations devoid of any policy context and devoid of any merit. It leaves a totally empty feeling after listening to him. Along with Trump's distrust of the efficacy of communicating truth, he's hurt this time around because the general public simply doesn't detest Biden the way they did Hillary.

The positive of Biden winning, to me, is the streets of our major cities should be relatively peaceful on election night. If Trump were in a better position to be re-elected I'd be nervous about the response from the radicalized left. The radicalized right has their guns but I don't see the same type of outburst. Some squirrels might want to start their hibernation now.

As a small l libertarian, I can't in good conscience toss a protest vote to a 3rd party. I'm registered republican, and this cannot stand. Four more years of Trump would destroy so many of the things I care about, from the perspective of the rule of law, independence of the judiciary, and respect for the 1st amendment. I don't have to love Biden to realize that I'm being patriotic for my support of him. Ironically, by voting in Biden, it may save the republican party. The party will crumble with 4 more years of this shit.

Are you saying you’d expect violence from the left if Trump wins? You know there have been multiple recent plots/attempts to kidnap or assassinate Democrat politicians including Biden and at least two governors, there have been right wing demonstrations where people carry assault weapons, and there have been several murders by right wingers, right?

Those radicalized antifa terrorists are the least effective people on the planet what with their zero fatalities so far.

I know I've said this before, but worth repeating: Trump is not destroying the GOP, he's merely revealing it. As a lifelong Republican, it was hard for me to finally see that the racists and robber barons and religious kooks were not the fringe of the GOP, but its ugly heart.

This version of the GOP must die, and it's more than just Buckley and Goldwater tossing out the John Birchers.

This smells too much like South Africa, where the white male oppressors are not going to surrender power peacefully. That's the GOP. That's why somebody like Barr backs Trump, because it's all about the Old White Guard holding onto power, with the courts being the primary tool.

Actually, white male South Africans did give up power relatively peacefully. The situation there was, and is not great. But they avoided the bloody civil war many expected.

everyone criticizes the republicans as being this outwardly racist party and often mention how few candidates and supporters they have, yet the few they have are called uncle tom's and other racists names by leftists and democrats. brilliant strategy of the left.
