My good friend from Hanover, PA, got involved with the LP this year finally after years of saying he would. Went to a few meetings and I think a larger convention in Philly. He's been a pretty staunch libertarian and has voted that way in the last couple of elections. He was unimpressed with Jorgensen and is voting Trump.

Colleen, there isn’t any time to waste. Election Day is just around the corner, and President Trump and I need this nation’s top patriots to STEP UP when it matters most.
Mitch McConnell's super pac! Why oh why do the Dems need to be so greedy. Laughable!

'she doesn't believe in taxes'
'oh yeah, that sounds good. Me either!'
Jorgensen supports replacing the Social Security system with individual retirement accounts.[24] In the final debate of the primaries, candidate Jacob Hornberger accused Jorgensen of "support[ing] the welfare state through Social Security and Medicare"; In response, Jorgensen called Social Security a "Ponzi scheme" and said that she would allow people to opt-out of the program on her first day in office.

He likes that generally Trump has not started any wars.

My friend is 30. I think he believes Trump has been wronged by the media quite a bit. He likes that generally Trump has not started any wars. He thought Russia was a big miss for the Dems and thinks he was treated unfairly. Of course the wars are a big libertarian talking point so it’s not a surprise. I think he just believes Biden is going to be more the version of who he was in the Senate and not the progressive he could be. I tend to think he will be the President for the future not the crime bill Anita Hill guy.

It sounds like your friend is a confused political novice. That description also applies to most young libertarians. For many, it is a phase they grow out of once they determine which major party is more closely aligned to their values.

this is huge for me just as a thought exercise of trump as pres. this is the only way trump stands out from other republicans. his foreign policy hasn't been good but how we've not been any major military conflicts while hes been president is baffling to me. its crazy trump is the only one that wants troops out of afghanistan in both parties. of course all of this isn't for any righteous reason or anything it's all part of some grift i'm sure, foreign policy decisions he's made outside of boots on the ground rhetoric have been awful (moving the embassy in israel, assassinating that guy from iran, trying his hardest to stoke conflict with china)
