Obama and Harris are the only ones who has long speeches. So I'm not sure what you mean. If this were a conventional convention that's all it is. Thought the gun and environment stuff was really good.

Yeah, I thought they were both too long. They're not firing up non voters with it, they're not gaining voters IMO, so they're preaching to the choir.

What if they used the time instead to have Kamala talk to a trump voter, or even a fake trump voter. Or a black person that is concerned about her record. I went to a pretty black elementary school and a lot of my friends from there are asking why did Biden hire a cop. I think that's a reasonable concern. Use the time to try and address these issues rather than 30 minutes of blather.

Didn’t get to see Kamala because I had to deal with my kid, but Obama’s speech was great until it started to go on too long.

I don't understand bringing in Kasich and these other republicans, going full center, and then Kamala's speech is just identity and platitudes without any talk of corruption or common-sense economic moves

Policy is not really in Kamala’s wheelhouse.

that's what speechwriters are for, right? I don't think it was a bomb or anything, but any given two lines had nothing to do with what came before it. just seems like a lost opportunity, like selling 2nd round picks

That’s really how I felt. It was annoying general one liners, one after the other

Absolutely. Conventions are all about preaching to the choir, as are the debates. People don't make up their minds on who to vote for based on either made-for-tv extravaganza.

there are some panicky click bait headlines out there about Trump making some gains. I think this is just in his wheelhouse. He can sit and "not watch" while using the press room for the COVID update and twitter for his bully agenda (AKA his personality) that his core loves.

From what I can tell, his net disapproval has dropped from -14 to -12 over the past month. That is technically a "gain," but is still dismal.

This is what my point was. Mix it up and get creative to actually go and get some voters.
