Good point.

yeah both are inherently racist comments... the problem is that one can lose support and votes and the other one never had the votes or support to lose.

Only video around so far. Looks like he was walking away from the police:

what in the world. the guys recording is not good but they do not react in a way that is the suspect is attacking the cops now. horrific.
also-- "yo can you send me that yo?" woof
That one definitely needs the body cam footage released before any conclusion can be made. It's hard to make out, but it looks like the video starts with the victim in the grass and then ends with him dead on the shoulder of the road, with nothing shown in between, so I don't think it can be said that he was walking away.

I know they are probably taught to bring the subject down, but a well placed shot to the legs would do that and probably not kill the person. I know that might be too risky in some cases, but with several officers there and some distance buffer why shoot to kill?
Mayor Jim Kenney has officially joined the calls for Philadelphia NAACP President Rodney Muhammad to step down amid a controversy that started when the latter posted an anti-Semitic meme on Facebook in July.
Kenney, who employed Muhammad as a paid consultant for his re-election campaign, previously called for an apology but stopped short of demanding a resignation.
"Our city and nation need healing and unity now, not the sort of division and hatred that this post creates," Kenney said. "I call on Minister Muhammad to apologize to our Jewish community and to all those who fight every day for religious and racial tolerance. I know Minister Muhammad to be a bridge builder, and I hope he is up to the task of rebuilding the bridges that his unfortunate post has now damaged."
“You are not demonstrating, you are attempting to commit murder,” Mayor Ted Wheeler said in hastily called news conference alongside Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell.
“Don’t think for a moment that you are if you are participating in this activity, you are not being a prop for the reelection campaign of Donald Trump — because you absolutely are,” he said. “You are creating the B-roll film that will be used in ads nationally to help Donald Trump during this campaign. If you don’t want to be part of that, then don’t show up.”
Black Lives Matter members in Chicago held a rally on Monday to support the more than 100 arrested last night following widespread looting and rioting that caused at least $60 million in property damage and saw 13 police officers injured, according to a report.
The rally was organized by Black Lives Matter Chicago and was held at a police station in the South Loop where organizers say individuals are currently being held in custody. At least one organizer called the looting tantamount to “reparations.”
“I don’t care if someone decides to loot a Gucci or a Macy’s or a Nike store, because that makes sure that person eats,” said Ariel Atkins, a BLM organizer, according to NBC Chicago. “That makes sure that person has clothes.”
“That is reparations,” Atkins continued. “Anything they wanted to take, they can take it because these businesses have insurance.”

Mr. Blake may very well have been 100% in the right but why would you give the cops a reason to shoot you? And, BTW, a white guy in the same situation very likely would have been shot too.
