if the idea is to reform the police which is desperately needed as with the legal/penal system why don't they say reform?

how can you get mad at people or anyone for that matter that when you say defund if you don't mean the definition in the dictionary.

i had an ex and one of the reasons she was an ex was because of the vagueness and double meanings of what she would say. told her it's not cute nor funny, just be straight with me.

so if the object is not to defund which means to withhold and makes the police department effectively defunct, why say it?

I agree with that point. I asked on here what defund meant in this context and someone posted a good primer on the concept and it makes perfect sense to me. Unfortunately, there are a LOT of people in this country who aren't going to ask that question or bother to look into it and just decide DEFUND COPS = get rid of the police. I mean Trump is bombarding the airwaves with ads that make it look like we are going to turn into a post-apocalyptic dystopia because you have to wait 5 days to have someone respond to a murder or violent crime. In reality, you probably have to do that now in a lot of places because the police are too busy now chasing around easier to solve low-level drug crimes to keep their clearance statistics up. Defund the police to hire social workers and mental health professionals, and decriminalize drugs while implementing treatment programs and let the police deal with the rapes and murders like trump says.
