NEWS: Trump notches his 200th lifetime federal judge and fills the very last appeals court vacancy nationwide.

He's filled the nation’s appeals courts (mini Supreme Courts, if you will) with dozens of white men — and zero Black judges. https://t.co/OD2oOEX1FV

Looks like Obama and Bush appointed 324 for comparison sake (over 8 years). 36 and 18 percent non white respectively.

I'm also less worried about the "white" part than the "committed right wing ideologues" part

Maybe the black undecideds will break for Biden, but some of those other numbers could change for the worse.

Admittedly, a black female running mate is unprecedented, but I'm trying to remember when the selection of a VP candidate made a huge shift either way, and i'm including Thomas Eagleton. In fact I'm trying to even remember the last five losing VP candidates.

Palin vs Biden probably had an impact on 2008.

I saw some clips from Don's Arizona thing yesterday. What a f****** train wreck. He took a whole lot of credit for things that happened during the Obama administration. And of course he made up a bunch of s***. And he lauded American heroes that you look up to, that you can look up to, in reference to statues of Confederates.

It was certainly not a complete video, and certainly they pulled out the juiciest parts to get a reaction from people, but he was getting a reaction from these young people which is just vile. You know rabid cheers for Kung Flu, and just other erroneous garbage. I'm sure that things are really only sort of rolling out later than normal because it was basically a fact checkers lottery ticket that came in with so many half truths, lies, and illegitimate claims.

Plus, I kinda think that *this* VP nominee has a greater chance of becoming President before the end of the first term perhaps more than any other VP nominee since FDR.

NY Times Daily Podcast a week or so ago focused on the VP candidates and the Times' political correspondent says while not discussed nationally, the party is looking at Biden as a one term President so the VP pick has to have some strong Presidential-like credentials (i.e. significant experience which discounts Abrams among others).

I truly had erased James Stockdale from my memory.

I feel like " a heartbeat away from the Presidency" really implies a bit of a rush to get rid of the current occupant. Even healthy people sometimes have an irregular heartbeat.

The Aunt Jemima thing has taken a weird turn. The trumpes are calling it cancel culture, and her family is saying that they were stealing her legacy by changing the trademark. I think there's plenty of history that's preserved in marketing, but really it's a lot nuts.

A young lady at Trump's rally yesterday to crying this canceled culture and the thievery of her legacy said that she was living the American dream by moving from a free slave to the face of a brand.

Ivanka was right, cancel culture has legs. It's ironic that cancel culture is part of the culture wars, but there it is. Cancel culture against statues, cancel culture against speakers, cancel culture against anything that someone decides to label politically correct

Trump talking to the press has some nuggets

- Said the FBI is investigating hundreds of people who knocked down statues including .... Jesus Christ... said the dem's don't care
- Said they are moving troops from Germany
- On the Senate police reform he can't get it out what's going on except that Tim Scott supports it (look he knows the name of a Black person)

I figured he'd join the protests. Just didn't realize he was back.

Oh, and we know darn well Trump thinks if Tim Scott supports it every black person will do the same.

the playbook now says that the President just has his own way of communicating and we should accept it. Sort of the 'grandpa is a racist but he does not really mean it'.
