So I knew nothing about Frank Rizzo except the thin blue line movie. He was dead when I was like 14 years old.

So I’m reading some stuff, but he really seems like a precursor to Trump doesn’t he?

Not sure if this belongs here or in the Civil Rights thread, but seems relevant. DC clergy reacting to/protesting again Trump using religions sites to invoke virtue

more like Trump is a revival of that type of person. not like Rizzo was this unique person in american history. country is littered with their own Rizzos from 40's on up to current day.

Rizzo was awful in so many ways, but Trump makes Rizzo seem like Jimmy Carter. Rizzo was a beast, but not without his charms.

Rizzo was a (terrible) man of his time. Trump is a grotesque faux-gilded dinosaur. An idiot savant that I once thought was good at one thing - real estate - but his actual talent is carnival barker extraordinaire. He's incompetent at everything else, including finance.

Posted this a couple of weeks ago in the previous politics thread:

Wolfgang622 wrote:In reading this article about Dick Allen, I was struck by the following passage:

William C. Kashatus wrote:To address the pressing need for crime control, Tate appointed Frank Rizzo as police commissioner. Unfortunately, Rizzo’s streetwise, shoot-from-the-hip, tough cop style became synonymous with the public’s image of Philadelphia and it wasn’t a good one. He antagonized the black community with his outspoken comments on race, voicing sentiments previously unspeakable among responsible public officials, couched in rhetoric of physical intimidation. The size of Rizzo’s charisma and personality inspired unreasoned loyalty among whites and fear as well as violent opposition among blacks. During his tenure as police commissioner “crime control” became a euphemism for “anti-black movements.”

This might as well be about Donald Trump. He is the angry white person's Obama. And he is going to win, because there are simply too many of them in PA and MI and WI.

Oh man, yeah she just got elected in that special too. Elections make no sense sometimes. Like what could she have done in two months that people were like no, let's switch again.

He's delusional for thinking he's anything close to Abraham Lincoln.

His inferiority complex is astounding. Constantly comparing himself to everyone. Constantly seeking validation (and when it doesn't come, he gives it to himself). His dad must have been a real asshole as a father. No wonder Junior and Eric are like they are.

I see on twitter that Trump was going off on Scarborough again.

Jennifer Jacobs
@JenniferJJacobs

"Maybe you look at it," Trump says of the Lori Klausutis death in 2001. "We don't have to waste time on it."

"But I've always felt that he got away with murder," he says of Joe Scarborough, on Fox News Radio. "That was my feeling, a very strong feeling, and I do feel it."

Has anyone asked him why they were friends if he always felt this way?

Translation: his polling with the black population is very bad and tweeting will fix the problem.

I really wish the media would have learned from 2016 - stop falling for this shit. He tries to change the narrative to deflect from him being completely terrible.

Trump said that he went to White House bunker during George Floyd protests, but claims it was for an ‘inspection’. The timing was just bad since he was working off his 'to do' list of making the White House great again. “I’ve gone down two or three times, all for inspection,” he said. (that is a lot of inspections)

Wait for word that he must have bumped the light switch for the outside lights and that it was not a plan to 'turn off the lights like no one is home'.

Trump and other top officials, including national security adviser Robert O'Brien, are "not happy" with Esper after his Wednesday remarks, three people familiar with the White House's thinking said.

In the press conference, Esper also distanced himself from a maligned photo-op outside St. John's Church.

And so it goes.

See? He’s the hardest working president in history. How many other presidents have inspected every part of the White House? Since he’s an expert in construction, he knew what to look for.
