Forbes dropped someone from their rich people listing of billionaires after reports of inflated wealth and forged tax documents



For the record I’ve never really understood this list, I guess I’m just not rich enough to care, much less getting butt hurt over the idea of being on it. For what it’s worth, I do like the idea that you would forge tax document and pay taxes on money that you have not earned So that you could be on the stupid list.

Final straw for me. Blocking her number.

I went through a long stretch of not being able to finish Friday/Saturday and just powered through, much better at both now.

It's totally about giving your brain exposure and learning how they're built. All of a sudden you'll get used to seeing clues like "How's it going, homie?" and you'll be like ah yes of course WHATSTHEHAPS

And once you start recognizing certain constructors you'll have a much better eye for whether they're more likely to use current slang, outdated slang, woefully outdated slang, or (rarely) no slang at all.

i'm also much better at knowing how they want me to finish the puzzle. early days you can go in whatever order you want but by thursday or friday you often need to get the longer ones to finish the vague shorter clues...which you don't really expect as a newbie when you're assuming shorter = easier.

Actually you're right. I just finished Saturday's today, since I got stuck in the southeast and had to rush out to do something and forgot I hadn't finished. As often happens when you look at it in a fresh light, it was a total brain cramp. Three letter word, part of split-I knew it had to be a bowling term. Kept on putting in six, switching it up with ten, both of which just screwed things up more. answer was of course pin. duh. didn't help that I had agenda item instead of action item at first for "task to get done at work."

I only like to do crosswords on paper, so I generally only do the Times on Friday, Saturday and Sunday which is when it shows up on my porch. I'm slow as hell but almost always make it through. Do you read the Rex Parker blog? He can be as annoying as hell and you never know what will set him off. Hates the Times puzzle far more than one could possibly imagine someone who writes a blog about the Times puzzle could possibly do. But he can also be entertaining, and has a good set of regular commenters who will call him on his bs. Nice place to commiserate after you've struggled through.

it would literally take me longer most times to just copy the answers into the squares than the times he lists to complete the puzzle.

I learned in the past few months, when I'm stuck I just delete a ton of the affected area where I'm uncertain of answers and fill back in in order of increasing certainty. Helps give a fresh view of an area...and also taking a little break and going back with fresh eyes.

I downloaded The NY Times crossword puzzle app for my iPad a while back. The trial has long since ended for the full puzzles, but you get the mini puzzles for free. Doing today’s and stuck on 4 across. Five letters. “MLB team named after its city, familiarly”
