In effect, that is exactly what they are saying. Among their idiotic rantings is the argument that there can't be a quid pro quo because the funds were released and there was never an announcement of an investigation. Just because you failed at something does not mean you didn't try it.

Primarily because I don't think he beats Trump.

Bolton.

I hate to be optimistic because Trump truly is the Teflon Don, but Bolton is gonna testify. Several sources say 51+ votes are there. Mittens, finally some spine. I suspect that Lamar Alexander cares about his legacy and is retiring, and my dark horse is Richard Burr, the quiet but perhaps ethical Republican. Susan Collins is an awful person, less than useless. I thought we could count on Murkowski but not sure, she is mouthing a lot of the moronic talking points.

The sleeping senators are getting a dim recognition that a tornado of krap about Trump is gonna come out, including his taxes, and they have to think about what it will mean to have suppressed evidence here.

If Trump survives to run again, there are so many easy paths to beat him - yet Dems cluster around the two worst possible choices - Sanders and Warren. Uncle Joe is seen as the savior but he is a weak candidate. It does boggle my mind that much better candidates - Harris, Booker - never had a shot.

@MiaFarrow
I came to respect Bernie years ago- watching him on Bill Moyers outstanding program. I hope for the America he envisions. But this is also true - if he wins the Dem nomination, we will lose the WH.

Warren could possibly finish 4th in Iowa, behind Klobuchar. She's my preferred candidate, but I don't think she's going to get the nomination. Keep in mind, if somehow Warren does get the nomination, it will be the first time ever that my favorite Dem candidate won the nomination.

Trump in Wildwood today as penance to Van Drew. Still is pretty befuddling how many people wait in line to see his bumbling stream of consciousness in person.

Morons started camping out yesterday morning for it. In all seriousness, if I had free time today I absolutely would've driven down there just to get a good laugh at the spectacle.

Over 6000 got in line last night. Still not sure where he's landing Air Force One. We usually get advanced notice when it's here. Wildwood airport runways are too small. Poor Van Drew is going to be disappointed when they fly in Marine One or Pence's C-32 after spouting on TV for weeks how he's flying in the VC-25.

Joni Ernst "helping" Trump with his defense after yesterday's session:

"Iowa caucuses are this next Monday evening. And I'm really interested to see how this discussion today informs and influences the Iowa caucus voters, those Democratic caucus goers. Will they be supporting VP Biden at this point?"

She was very proud of herself, delivering the GOP goal of weakening Biden with a smile on her face. It felt like the GOPs "pen" moment.

Do we really think there’s any Dem who gives a shit what Joni Ernst thinks?

bernie is the only candidate running other than warren that generates real enthusiasm. i've been a bernie bro since 2016, so i am obviously biased towards bernie but i don't hate or even not like liz warren, but i think her base is mostly white or high income voters but i don't have actual facts to back this up. heres a cool vid of bernie delivering a speech recently, i know it probably scares a lot of the moderate guys in this thread but this is the future of the dem party not mayor pete. AOC is just going to take up the mantle after we get 8 years of bernie soon :-D :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

@JakeSherman
HOUSE REPUBLICAN LEADERSHIP used a closed party meeting this morning to concede they are in the midst of a full-blown fundraising crisis, after the @DCCC outraised the @NRCC by $40 million in 2019. Individual Dem candidates are also smoking their Republican opponents.

You just hate to see it.
