I think this sentiment is part of aging as well.

Don't know, there seems to be no age requirement on this. I have consulted on a lot of bananas HR stuff in the last two years that is simply inexplicable. I assume it is an uptick as there has been a lot of advisement. Easy stuff like porn, harder stuff like VPN access from places people should not be accessing a network from, basic stuff like downloading IP onto USB drive, stupid stuff like running a separate business from your desk on your work machine, etc. age ranges are twenties to seventies and pretty much distributed.

I actually think people are getting smarter in most ways... Not sure if that gives us hope, or the opposite.

I can definitely say that's not a new thing. Undecided whether gps makes it worse or better. On the one hand, many people listen to voice commands truly as if it were the voice of God commanding them and must be obeyed whatever conflicting reality may be in front of tbem. OTOH, you'd think they'd have more confidence that if they went astray the Supreme Leader would set them on the right path eventually.

I guess you can say people are definitely more knowledgeable. They can regurgitate information and often most times correct information. However, understanding and applying such knowledge is a different story. This includes school to blogs and podcasts.

There’s a severe lack of any type of critical thinking skills anymore though, which includes plain old common sense. I think we are now teaching what to think and not really how to think. I noticed a shift from high school to college to post graduate to eventually some teaching. This pushing of group projects definitely escalated over a 15 year span. Individualism took almost a backseat to the groupthink of today.

I don’t know if I’m old school or what... I pride myself in individualism and resourcefulness. Do not get me wrong it’s important to be a “team player” from work to relationships to life in general. However, I learned those, not in the classroom, I learned them on the field, on the court and on the playground.

Went to Walmart yesterday to buy a cast iron dutch oven. It was $55. Rang up as $13. Suck it, Walton's.

with the reappearance of the centuries old curse of King Shidas and the recent unexplained time travel phenomena, it is quite possible that a rift opened here at bsg that has exposed many of us to portals, vortexes, and alternate universes. i advise all to be careful.

Cool... if you bump into slowhand there too, see what’s up. Think he might have gotten lost and needs a ride back.

My mom got a call yesterday that her granddaughter was taken into custody by the Pottstown police (she's 4). Someone reported my brother/his girlfriend for neglect, the cops showed up and there was drug paraphernalia on the bed my niece sleeps in. Her mother doesn't know which, if any, vaccines her daughter has. I know my brother has multiple felonies, including some drug charges, on his record. I don't know about his girlfriend.

Thankfully she has someone who can take her in and give her somewhere safe to live at least temporarily. Hopefully my mom can get permanent custody.
