He basically had a USCG Rear Admiral lay down for the tire tracks.

Some line officer isn't making money doing this. They're just following orders.

You may be right. However, I could see Trump saying "I'll kick you down 250k if you provide me cover." That's chump change for someone supposedly as wealthy as the Don.

In the interest of clarity, an admiral is not a line officer just following orders as given. An admiral is a flag officer. As a general definition a line officer is someone who is directly functioning as a leader with a combatant command that puts them immediately in harms way.

I do not think that monetary exchange is in the mix in any way however. Maybe to JH's point, the guy is over a barrel with the commander in chief demanding action. Choices would be to give up your career, get fired from your position, or be a good soldier (I know, but this is an idiom) and suck it up.

Howard Schultz drops out of the presidential race. Did not know that was still happening.

President Trump was the one who doctored a projection of Hurricane Dorian's path before the map was displayed during a White House meeting between Trump and acting Homeland Security Secretary Kevin McAleenan, according to a White House official.

An unnamed official told The Washington Post that Trump himself edited the map projection provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to include the state of Alabama.

“No one else writes like that on a map with a black Sharpie,” the official told the news outlet.

You don't get rich by giving away money you don't need to give away. He is the commander-in-chief. He could have simply ordered this guy to make the statement.

Trump's campaign is a Trump-branded permanent marker trying to capitalize on the weather map alterations. 5 for $15. As to your reference point, Sharpies are about $1.20 a piece, or
$6 for 5.

Turtle blamed the Dems for reprogrammed military funds.

His flawed logic is that if they would have just rolled over and done what Trump said, then everything would have been ok.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) released a statement Friday evening disavowing a days-old tweet from the National Weather Service that contradicted President Trump over the reach of Hurricane Dorian.

The NOAA statement, which was unsigned and posted to the agency's website on Friday, said that the "Birmingham National Weather Service’s Sunday morning tweet spoke in absolute terms that were inconsistent with probabilities from the best forecast products available at the time. "

You'll be shocked to learn that NOAA has been run by an unconfirmed acting political appointee by Wilbur Ross since January 2017.

Dan Sobien, president of the National Weather Service Employees Organization, lambasted NOAA's characterization of events and defended the agency's employees.

"Let me assure you the hard working employees of the NWS had nothing to do with the utterly disgusting and disingenuous tweet sent out by NOAA management tonight #NOAA," he tweeted Friday.
