I have always been a fan of Joe Biden. I think he is a very good human being and has handled the tragedies in his life about as well as anyone could. I thought he was a great pick as VP for Obama, and I thoroughly enjoyed him destroying and embarrassing Paul Ryan in the 2012 VP debate.
That being said it is sad to watch him now. Those close to him who convinced him to run should be ashamed. He's not anywhere near as sharp mentally as he's been in the past and I would not be surprised at all if he had some type of medical episode like a mini-stroke in the last 2 years. Seeing him get attacked from all angles and struggling to defend himself is tough to watch.

Joe Biden has wanted to be president his whole life. No one had to convince him to run. And it's not like he's some late stage dementia patient walking around. He doesn't have his best fastball anymore, but he's not out on the trail #$!&@ himself.

He appealed to young people whose political consciousnesses were shaped during his presidency. He won two terms. He passed a major if not wholly satisfactory piece of health care legislation - more than anyone else had done.
He had his flaws. For an organizer he seemed oddly disinterested in building the kinds of personal relationships that can help you get stuff done. He probably gave into the banking class a little too much. Etc.
But MOST OF ALL, he served two essentially scandal-free terms and presided over a slow BUT RESPONSIBLE recovery that was going strong when he left office, and argued successfully for the auto bailouts. Democrats should talk about him like he descended from Heaven. They should be using their control of the House to propose naming #$!&@ after him. They should be doing all the things, in other words, that they did for JFK, who was a louse, and that Republicans did for Ronald Reagan, who, it turns out, could be awfully racist in the basest sort of terms.

Instead of helping them, though, criticizing Obama’s Presidency to try to hurt Biden did nothing to help their candidacies. Instead it looked contrived and petty, hurting both their own chances and the overall chances of defeating Trump in 2020.
