Trump talked homelessness with Fox. It went as one would expect. Choice bits

- He took care of some emerging homeless threat very quickly in the District (what?!?)
- People choose living on the street
- People age getting sick walking through the homeless on their way to their office jobs.
- "They’re getting actually sick, including police officers, who are incredible, the job our law enforcement does is incredible." (just gratuitously added for flavor)
- Democrat run sanctuary cities, because, right
- Interestingly he think this happened 2 years ago... all of a sudden... while he was in office.

A spokesperson for the vice president told NBC News that it was because of an “emergency,” but an organizer at the event referred to it as a “diversion.”

Not sure if accurate, but still kind of nteresting:

You web detective on the twitter hunt connected the 14 soviet sailors killed in he fire on the sub with the trip deferment. That seems unusual as the reason.

Swish that poll was like two weeks after Trump declared and prior to the first debate in August. So it’s not really a fair comparison.

Not note for note certainly. Still holds up as a reminder that things change. A lot.

The counter to that is Trump took the lead in the 3rd week in July (before the first debate) and led pretty much the rest of the way.

And not to pile on, but trump would receive tons of free, mostly uncritical, and some quite laudatory media coverage.

I'm not sure who, or what you're piling on there. To me Trump's figure was the least interesting part of those poll figures though, so I may be talking at cross purposes. It was more that those who rise in June don't always stay on top.

Shortly after, it was clear that Trump was the only one who stood out from the flock (herd?) of dwarves. Time will tell whether one of the Dems can do that. Harris looks like maybe the only one who might, but if I know anything, it's that I don't know anything.

Using 2.5 million in National Parks user fees to fund TrumpParade July 4. Nice.

My grandfather called flipping someone off giving them "the salute". So Trumps Salute to America is a big FU to citizen suckers who paid user fees assuming that those funds would be used to improve the park/park system. Basically he is stealing from the people to appease his ego.

I hope that someone finds something that make this illegal and shuts it down. This is America damn it, sue someone. At least get an emergency injunction that topples it. FWIW the local governments figure that there is some bill coming that they will get stuck with.

entrance fees charged at the 112 fee-charging national parks through January 1, 2020. The changes, which come in response to public comments on a fee proposal released in October 2017, will modestly increase entrance fees to raise additional revenue to address the $11.6 billion in deferred maintenance across the system of 418 parks, historic and cultural sites, and monuments.

It seems tangential at best to use the fees to stroke an ego.

Was a good/depressing look at independence mall that I read the other day. I'll see if I can find it. Basically all the parks need money. They're falling to pieces.

Trump is trying to seize control as best he can of the Federal reserve to get rate cuts ahead of the 2020 elections. He's nominating people to get it done.

Christopher Waller, PhD, Executive VP and Director of Research, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Missouri. His boss was the only one to vote for a rate cut last meeting. He had to do the research for his boss you would think.

And Judy Shelton who is a conservative scholar who is former Trump campaign adviser told The Washington Post that she thinks interest rates should be cut “as expeditiously as possible”, and she is an opponent of the US returning to the gold standard.

Best People.

Good article. Yeah, sadly it's been building on years and years of neglect.

Any Dem candidates out there that look like they've willingly entered a National Park in the last year for anything other than a photo op? Beto maybe, but hard to see him as anything but an empty cargo short.

The NPR station in DC talking about the fireworks display and the president's plans in these words: "The furor surrounding the fireworks."

I'd like to say it was unintentional, but I don't see any way that it was.

It’s backwards, though. It should be “the fireworks surrounding the furor.”

TBF, it was on the radio, so it might have been spelled as intended in the script. Pretty ballsy, but I doubt Don is an NPR listener. His dial does not WAMU.

KAC said that the speech will include a laundry list of patriotic topics including:

- success of his administration
- the denuke he brought around the globe
- his treatment of veterans
- the jobs he created

No chance it goes political, and even less that he free wheels.
