Serious, but random thought, is what is the best way to move cash to my college bound kid. I know Venmo is popular, but Zell's sponsorship by a few key banks (my current banks, and his on campus bank) seems to make it a great choice. I forever am reluctant to trust apps with financials, so I figure that I would ask the collective. Experiences and suggestions?

Does he have a bank account? Does that bank have local branches in your area? If so, you could just go in and deposit money into his bank account.

I am not as the trust chain is clearer. The mobile security work that my peers have done has made me concerned. They were investigating controlling a mobile platform with a Red/Green type of function separating business from personal, buy were watching bleed between the two at the subsystem level. Share memory and kernel break out attacks were observable.

There's been a move in the industry to not allow people to deposit cash, checks are ok, into accounts that aren't theirs (it's to prevent potential money laundering detection issues) but according to the article below PNC does not restrict cash nor do they plan to:

the mornings will be under an hour(45ish). especially when we move our offices north a little bit. afternoons will be tough but not much longer than when i lived in philly.

yeah, we're excited to be in walking distance to a 'downtown' community. Wissihickon trail is right behind our neighborhood as well.

This is probably what we're going to do. Mrs. Vulture recently installed venmo. However, I noticed that there's a certain social media element to it--she saw other people's transactions when she used it--so and so paid so and so (they were all contributing to a graduation party)....So, it seemed to me venmo was not terribly concerned with privacy.

One weird thing on all this--my university for some unknown reason still pays work study students with checks. Is this common?

You don't know how much someone paid, and it's up to the person paying to say what they're paying for

You can also set transactions to private.

My point is the fact that the info is there at all struck me as weird. I suppose there are some limited reasons why it might be useful--like so Bucky can shame everyone who has signed up but not paid for the luxury box--but it still seemed messed up to me.
