Sorry it’s a pet peeve of mine but I did it anyway. I think I misread the tweet from the MSNBC guy and don’t see it anymore. I’m glad I’m wrong.

After it was clear this afternoon Robert Francis was announcing tomorrow a tweet from November 2018 where he categorically ruled out running started getting retweeted a lot.

But that was four months ago so a lot has changed.

Ah thanks for the clarification. I feel like some bort members during the pre-Harper days.

I would be genuinely curious to get a pacino (and any other Dem leaning poster here) tiered ranking as of March 13th for the Dem candidates. Don't have to go in exact order, but group these folks into 1) possible top choice; 2) enthusiastic about, if my top choice(s) fade; 3) still like, but not thrilled; 4) would vote for in the general, but never in a primary; 5) may vote third party in the general

Biden
Booker
Buttigieg
Castro
Delaney
Gabbard
Gillibrand
Harris
Hickenlooper
Inslee
Klobuchar
O'Rourke
Sanders
Warren
Yang

Not getting my vote: Warren (seems out of original though), Sanders (can't afford him, and have no respect for him invading a party he is not a member of to hijack the organization capabilities), or Gabbard (I do not want her baggage)

I don't think these have a chance, but if I must: Buttigeg (needs experience beyond managing a 100K city - the county I live in is much larger), O'Rourke (I think Trump woodsheds him as a loser, and his peeps go all in for it. Can't beat lying Ted will resonate), Booker (the Biden for a new generation I am afraid), Inslee (generic white dude), Yang (VFA is great, but he lack of experience is concerning, but he gets admiration for actually being a successful entrepreneur IRL), and Delaney (if you wonder who Joh Delaney is, you would not be alone. He is a local to me so I have heard him, but I see no path to victory)

Might be able to win: Biden (has his baggage which will be deployed early, and easily), Castro (not sure he has the ability yet), and Gillibrand (Hillary light, and former social circle pal of Donald)

That leaves: Harris, Hickenlooper, and Klobouchar

I guess I am glad it is early because there is a lot of work to do to capture inspiration.

I think the prospect of ousting Trump and his fellow traitors hellbent on this nation's destruction will , regardless of the Dem nominee, inspire record turnout.

1. Warren/ Sanders
2. Gillibrand/Harris/Buttigieg
3. Hickenlooper/Inslee/Castro/Yang
4. Biden/Booker/Klobuchar/Beto
5. Everyone else

Will vote for the eventual Sanders/Harris ticket and be glad about it. Will vote for Biden/Buttigieg and sigh. Obviously totally making this shit up but seems good to me.

Wow...you hate Beto that much that you would rather another four years of Trump?

Why?

forgot him. edited to put him in tier 4 bc i don't know anything substantive about him and don't know how progressive he actually is. I am obviously willing to move any of these up or down and will gladly watch the debates come June.

Funny that Beto doesn't have enough experience but a guy who served as mayor for six years of the fourth largest city in Indiana that only still exists because of a large university-- he has the experience.

Also, it's particular humorous considering that the nominee will be facing off against Trump who had zero experience and beat the most experienced non-incumbant Dem nominee to ever run.

At the moment, voters prefer inexperienced outsiders.

And the guy who hosted a reality TV show and spent half his life raw dogging porn stars has experience too. I think the experience thing is out the window at this point, at least in terms of asking the question as to whether or not someone can win the election.

not trying to shill for O'Rourke, but this response was so good, in my opinion. I know i have posted it before, but posting again in case you did not see it. I am not sure any other Dem candidate has this stance, but Beto is a conservative or something.

Yep, dude is speaking my language. I want an open border policy with Canada and Mexico along the lines of what they have in the EU. Free to live and work for however long you like in all three countries without needing visas and work permits. I am very jealous of the freedom of movement that Europeans enjoy.

I feel like I know very little about half of them, so I'll wait before I start ranking anyone.

If I could find a younger version of Sanders with no baggage, he/she would get my vote. Not sure if that person exists.

yeah it is a long way to go before any votes are cast. with you on that. i do have my opinion on which ones will be around after iowa and new hampshire, but we shall see. still such a bummer two states have so much say in who ends up being the nominee.

This I knew and is good. But his overall voting record is fairly 'moderate'.

There are clearly limits to this but given how blue his district, he actually votes with Trump more than you would think: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/co ... o-orourke/
