I will say this in response to my own take yesterday: If Mueller can establish clearly that Trump offered Putin a bribe in the form of a $50MM condo, whether as a private citizen, a candidate or as President, that would be a clear violation of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and might be enough to begin to sway some Republican senators. It would also explain why Trump has always been so complimentary of Putin, for fear the latter would divulge the crime.

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) said Friday that he believes legislation protecting special counsel Robert Mueller could pass the Senate, if Republican leadership would agree to bring it up for a vote.

"I do believe the votes are there on the floor if we can just get a vote, and that's what I'm calling, let's just have a vote," Flake told CNN, asked about a measure that would protect Mueller from being fired without good cause.

Sorry, I misread, the alleged misconduct was in a county, not district, where the vote share was more republican than in 2016. My mistake.
