Yeah. That and Florida, pal. Two important states towards electoral victory and they are getting redder and redder.

Michigan, Wisconsin, PA are very important and Dems won to be the check on any gerrymandering. Michigan approved a non-partisan measure.

How many seats are the Dems going to pick up in the House?
Do you think April is too early for a Roger Dorn night?

The Oklahoma and South Carolina flips are so wild. SC especially since Trump targeted Sanford there and was one of the reasons he was primaried. Eat shit, Donald.

Super proud of the people of Nevada outside of Nye county voting for a dead guy.

Pretty awesome.

Won back 333 seats in state legislatures, flipped a bunch of houses and governorships (think 7 each).

It was a nice surprise considering the R running as a state rep served as a Doylestown borough councilman. He voted against a ban on conversion therapy for kids, so fuck that guy. Glad he lost.

Chester County ousted a bunch of Republican state reps. I'm thrilled about that.

They still control both chambers. Believe they lost the super majority in the Senate but not sure.

29-21 R in the state Senate
I haven't seen final tabulations for the House but the Rs lead but lost about ten seats or so. Many of the Rs that lost were the more 'moderate' ones so there may be just as much gridlock

I think Nancy as speaker is very strong, but she probably doesn't help electorally. (I think by the way you could say the exact same thing for Mitch McConnell.) Anyway, I think the first thing the House should do is pass legislation covering pre-existing conditions. Call the Senate Republicans on their bluff.

We should note that in many red states, progressive issues on the ballot won, and won big. (Last I checked, raising the minimum wage in Arkansas to $11 by 2021 passed with over 75% voting for. There really is a socially conservative/economically liberal electorate out there--red state Dems should build a strategy on reaching that electorate. (Yes, I understand this may be tough for some to swallow--but I'd much rather have someone like that who is sincere in the economic progressivism than what the Republicans are doing now by pretending to be economically progressive but screwing workers over every chance they get. If unions have any resources, they should increase their efforts among these voters.

I'd start investigating the shit out of people like Zinke. But I don't want to Benghazi anyone--there's enough real corruption there's no need to make anything up.

Moz only lost by 1500 votes. In 2016, the incumbent R won by 8500 votes and ran unopposed the cycle before that.

The woman he had to run against was hand picked by the outgoing Rep.

Dems are close in Bucks county. Keep fighting.

Another thing, is our party has new faces now and new voices. People like AOC and Underwood and Sherrill and on and on. We have our crop of stars now.

Did anyone post that article about how Gingrich ruined everything? I keep coming back to the fact that he visited Verdun and came to the conclusion that what the world needed more of was partisan conflict. It strikes me as so remarkably wrong.

This is super important as well. And some of these new faces and voices are in deep red states, and maybe one can be Senators from those states. At the same time, we've got people ready to articulate a progressive message. I think a two front war is in order here--elect the most progressive candidates possible in blue areas, and fight in the red ares with a more economically populist approach.

For this to work, I think the Dems are going to need to eschew any national candidate who can be credibly accused of having Wall Street ties. (I'm looking at you Corey Booker.)

I saw an article somewhere (maybe the Guardian?) to this effect. Didn't read it, but the thesis is plausible.

Hope the losses by "progressive" candidates carry the same weight as the victories. Can't win nationally if they don't.

Say no to Pelosi.

Don't overstep wtih House power and energize the Trumpers more.

Still need more success on the state level.

Beto/Biden 2020 or Biden/Beto 2020 is a winner.

I think I agree with all of this, although I think the Dems should consider a female on the ticket (Harris, Klobuchar, Gabbard?). Also, point #3 cannot be emphasized enough. Hopefully the knuckleheads at the top of the party realize what the Kavanaugh fight cost them.
