It simply lets them run against the establishment despite being in charge of every level of power

The base is stupid and misinformed by the entertainment wing of the party, who like to hold McConnell (and to a lesser extent Ryan) up as villains for why things don't get done, when in reality the obstacles are things like basic math and rules and an incontinent president who has no grasp of policy and an uncanny knack of stepping on any messaging or legislative push.

If only they would FIGHT like Trump!

hilariously, the far far anti-McConnell, anti-paul rayn types have prevented more conservative policies from being enacted than democrats alone have been able to. their search for perfection has sidelined plenty of stuff i'd completely hate.

So, basically, the entertainment wing runs the Republican Party and there's no one left to reel it back it?

If you ignore the fact that McConnell is still the majority leader and most of the nomination clashes end up being more like West Virginia with a candidate the establishment is comfortable with winning than Alabama, sure

Pence says it's time for special counsel to 'wrap up' Russia investigation

If it keeps getting said, it will happen. Come on man, I get that he gets crisped a bit in this due to his own blind ambition, and I understand that the image of Washington on the quarter in my pocket might be smarter then he is, but the bar is not low enough to make this 'request' credible. If there is there-there, it must continue, and it took plenty of time for Nixon's fall from grace to come together. Mueller completely understands that if there is nothing in the end that he will have completed the destruction of the FBI, so he must be being incredibly careful.

Mikke Pence will need to learn that everything Donald touches dies, and it is too late for him, or his soul.

Feel like WWIII has started: http://www.newsweek.com/iran-vs-israel- ... now-918558

Israel & Iran exchange missile fire with Syria involved, all while Trump pointlessly pokes Iran with a stick.

Faaaaaantastic.

Israelis are living in Syrian territory; it's amazing how this is reported by some outlets.

I mentioned Tuesday that the war drum started beating pretty much immediately after the withdraw announcement, sort of Israel's loony arm version of toasting with champagne since they can complete the circuit of dragging the US into something. They waited like 30 hours until that took that from speculation to action.

Angus King was on Morning Joe this morning when Pence sent out that Tweet. They asked King about it and his response was that he had no idea why the Administration would want the investigation to end if they did nothing wrong. Nothing could be better for Trump and his people than a completed investigation and a report from Mueller saying everything was on the up-and-up. He said that the only thing ending the investigation early would do is leave lingering question/doubt about what the Administration did or didn't do.

Having been involved in a similar situation, I could not agree with King more.

Rudy's law firm helped him make his leave permanent. Was it his shenanigans on TV or that he said that he would have handled paying off mistresses with firm money as part of a general SOP?

Mr. Giuliani suggested that such payments were common at his firm, even without the knowledge of the clients. “That was money that was paid by his lawyer, the way I would do, out of his law firm funds,” he said on Fox News. He added, “Michael would take care of things like this like I take care of this with my clients.”

The New York Times asked Greenberg Traurig about those remarks early this week. Shortly after Mr. Giuliani’s resignation was announced, the firm responded.

“We cannot speak for Mr. Giuliani with respect to what was intended by his remarks,” said a spokeswoman, Jill Perry. “Speaking for ourselves, we would not condone payments of the nature alleged to have been made or otherwise without the knowledge and direction of a client.”

EDIT - added evidence of duncemanship by Ruditootie

And despite Mr. Trump’s grousing about Mr. Giuliani’s gaffes, the president has also told people that Mr. Giuliani is putting out information that the president wants to be part of the public conversation, particularly about the special counsel inquiry.

Sorry, by "situation", I meant I was previously in a position to have to commission a third-party investigative report. The reason for the report was nothing remotely close to this level and it took one year to complete.

conservative PA House Democrat Dom Costa asking for write-in votes from republicans

he may get primaried by a more liberal Democrat (one that believes in women's choice and the rights of immigrants) in a district in Pittsburgh that has a 3-1 D-R registration so now he's looking for an exit. The Allegheny County Democratic Party even endorsed this goon. So did SEIU. :q
