I think the point is that the worst ever time for human trafficking is when it’s you who is being trafficked. Quoting gross numbers or percentages runs the risk of dehumanizing arguably the most horrible of human conditions.

again, no one is saying slavery is good.

Slavery is bad is the takeaway here, I guess. I'm anti-slavery, but pro legalized prostitution. I think they're compatible, but I'm not sure.

estimates put india at 18 million slaves which is equivalent to the number of slaves that were transported in the 300 year history of the the trans atlantic slave trade (12.5 mill).

i mean, that is happening in india today! that is the point. the thing most everyone thinks is one of the worst scourges on human civilization, rightfully so, is happening right now but even bigger. that is the point. it isnt to minimize slavery from the 1500-1800s. if that slave trade makes you mad, this should illicit the same feelings if not more. slavery is happening on the planet you live on right now. it isnt some thing of the past.

What does the Donald Trump Presidential Library look like? I suspect it is a room with a television that only can be tuned to Fox News. There's a second TV that flips around between the other news channels. There's a handful of copies of his books, there is a unopened Bible with the pages pristine, and maybe a box with some Trump University stuff in it. The room itself is a gold on gold Motif with some silver accents. There's an admission fee, all souvenirs are direct contributions to the family with the family name on it.

Criminal investigations either take their course or they get resolved between the accused and the prosecutor. Unless Trump is a defendant in the case it would seem to me any attempt by him or his representatives to “resolve” the investigation on behalf of others is arguably obstruction in and of itself.

I mean if you’ve already obstructed you might as well OBSTRUCT. Why not? Especially if you’re rewarded personally and politically each time you double down on bad ideas.
